@lrall916:  Do you think maybe she doesn’t have them anymore and she’s scared to tell you? Unfortunately, I don’t think there’s much you can do now, especially since there was no contract and technically she did get you the disc but you lost it. You could talk with a lawyer and ask them to send her a letter to pressure her to at least respond.

Yeah, I’m betting she doesn’t have them, or she’d have sent them.  Especially freaking out and cutting off contact, it sounds like she’s afraid of a confrontation in which she has to admit she screwed up and deleted them/misplaced them/whatever.

@lrall916:  You are the one that lost the first copy…it is not her job to make sure you keep up with your stuff. She is a student and prbly did not keep them

Maybe I’m in the minority, but I do not think she owes you to replace a cd that you lost. I also do not think it’s an entirely bad thing to not store all of your pictures for long periods of time (it sounds like over a year?).

I think it’s crappy that she lied to you and that your mom did give her some money to do it. Terribly unprofessional and if she started a full on business, I’d put her on blast.

But I do not think she has to give you a cd at this point. I dont think there is anything you can do but ask for the money your mom gave to her (the $30) back.

i mean, it stinks, but i’m betting she lost the photos and is scared to tell you, as PP’s have said. its also legally (i’m not saying morally, but legally) not her responsibility to replace the disc unless you have a contract stating something to that effect. i would just straight up ask her, “hey, if you don’t have the photos any more, please just let us know and let us get our $30 back, you don’t have to go into hiding.” i feel kind of bad for her if she’s so scared she deleted her facebook and changed her phone number. poor kid.

It’s true, it’s not her job to keep your pictures if she’d already sent you a disc.  However, if she did already delete the pictures, she owed it to you to be honest.  It would have saved both of you a lot of trouble.

I think that at this point, the only thing you can do is hunt her down for your $30.  Can you find her via the community college?

And who knows, the disc might show up somewhere in your things down the road.

@lrall916:  I’m sorry you lost your pictures 🙁 That must be devestating. I know I would be very upset. I agree with the PPs though – the photog probably didn’t keep the pictures (which is strange, because you think she’d want them for her portfolio).

@ohmybears48:  +1…

OP, it really does suck that you are in this position, and she has just dropped off the earth, but in reality, she held up her end of the original deal,she gave you all the photo’s. If the wedding date you have listed is your actual wedding date, then it’s been almost TWO YEARS since your wedding and the photos were taken. IF she was just a student, it is completely understandable for her not to have kept all photo’s she has ever taken. She should definitely have been up front with you about it, rather than running and hiding, though.
