Hi guys, I’m having trouble finding a phtographer I like in my price range ($2500-$3000). I’m in NYC and getting married upstate. Any referrals would be very appreciated, but please not if they’re for yourself. I’m looking for objective opinions. Here are my issues:
1. I want the photog to be best at capturing PEOPLE, not details. It’s easy to make pretty shoes look pretty in photos, but it takes skill to capture people’s essence.
2. I don’t want excessive “effects”, the pics should speak for themselves.
3. I feel like a lot of affordable photogs have problems with under/overexposure. This is an outdoor, summer wedding with a dark barn reception, so ability to work in high and low light and still get color, depth and details is huge.
Maybe what I want doesn’t exist at this price point, but any suggestions would be most appreciated. Thanks bees!

I think my friend, Amber Marlow Blatt at Amber Marlow Photography, might fit the bill perfectly! I had a wonderful experience doing a set of portraits with her – I’m not very photogenic, but I thought Amber was amazing at bringing out the best of me. I’ve seen her portraits of some of our friends, as well, and I honestly think she’s great at that capturing the essence of a person thing. Of course, I am her friend and I might be biased, but she also has great reviews on Yelp and a webpage (http://ambermarlow.com/) with some pretty pictures you can look through – and her pricing info!
Good luck in your search!

I’m using Upstate Photography. We have not done any photos yet, but they were really nice in the meeting and there prices were very reasonable!
