- Wedding: October 2011
Okay, so I’m just going to hype here for a moment. Being a photographer myself, I knew that finding someone I liked was going to be really really hard. My #1 pick lives too far away (back in Arkansas where I grew up…if you’re in Arkansas, DEFINITELY check him out, he’s the best.)
My second pick is a friend of mine locally, he’s a fashion photographer and made it clear to me that he doesn’t do weddings. I’d lost touch with him over the past few months anyway.
So…I started looking, I knew I was going to have issues because I’m a budget bride, with expensive tastes in photography. I knew what I wanted, and was having trouble finding a balance between cost and quality. I finally found a girl who was very talented, and reasonably priced, and set up an engagement photoshoot (in 3 weeks! yippie!) but she still was a bit over my budget. It was the most reasonable I’d found for good quality, so I figured I would just need to make it work.
Over the weekend, I reconnected with my photographer friend – and he said he’s been doing weddings recently (and is even being flown to Jamaica to do a DW!!), mostly as favors to photographer friends, and insisted on doing mine, within my budget! I am SO THRILLED. His work is AMAZING. He owns ex voto studio in Maryland and has done a lot of high-profile fashion/couture photography worldwide.
I still love the other girl, and am going to go ahead and keep our engagement photo session, as that was very reasonably priced and her style is really sweet and vintage (which is what I wanted for my e-pics), so I think I’ll be happier with that.
But I am SUPER excited to have my friend doing the wedding pictures, his style is so modern and sophisticated. I love the high-contrast look of his lighting, and the emotion he catches in his work…so I just had to share!! Ahhhhh…so excited!
