Kara, you’re going to have to give a little more info on what you’re looking for. Do you have anything in mind right now?

We chose Marisa Cohen who is really great. We also were considering Amanda Borozinski and Jay Reiter. We were definitely concerned about cost and the amount of hours [we wanted 8 hours for less than $1500] and we were looking for a photojournalist style.

We’re going with Mike and Kate Duval of MKD Photography out of Acton. They’re both super sweet, the packages are great, and their style is impeccable. I’m the third person I know to book them in a small social circle– that’s gotta say something! Our 8-hour package with tons of extras (slideshows AT the reception from earlier photos, an engagement shoot, DVD of images for your own replication, plus the ability to add on design projects like invitations and guestbooks) is $3600. We balked a little at the price (not gonna lie!), but when you compare apples-to-apples with other photographers and take the quality of images and production into account, it’s worth it.

Kate McElwee is shooting our wedding and she is fantastic!  I found her here on the Bee, but it was in regard to boudoir photography.  When I went to her website, I fell in love but then realized she was all the way in Seattle.  Then, I read the about Kate section, I saw that she was planning a move to Boston; what luck!

But anyway, about her photography, she’s talented, fun, and loves her job.  You can see it in her work, which is creative and romantic.  I love how she plays with light.  A lot of people out there think they’re photographers just because they can pick up a camera, frame a shot and fix the exposure in photoshop; that’s not Kate.  In this whole wedding planning process, hiring her was the thing I was most sure about, after saying ‘yes’ to my man of course.

My Sister used Michael Sparks Keegan, his prices were reasonable and they were awesome to work with. I can send you a link to her photos if you want. She ended up with over 1600 photos.!

We’re using Berryphotos.  They’re from Bridgewater but travel for free.  They’re packages offer a ton!  We’ve got unlimited coverage and we own the rights to all our images.  Their packages start at 2k with all that and their pictures look like the type people pay 5k for!!  We couldn’t be more excited.  Their website is http://www.berryphotos.com
