@aggiemae:  How do we know? You should really share each of these photographer’s websites and then we can tell you if there is any reason. If you aren’t familiar with photography and don’t know what to look for, you might not understand why one photographer is better than the other. I couldn’t even offer any opinion without seeing their work, other than that $2700 is at the low end of what professionals charge and $5000 is at the higher end. But either of these photogs could be charging well above or well below what they should be. Let’s see the work and the resident pro photog’s here can tell you right away what the difference is.

My personal opinion as a wedding photographer.

Go with the cheaper one. Their isn’t enough difference between their work for the giant price gap.

Plus the second package is just a good deal in general.

Also, is Arden the expensive one?

@DarthBetty:  +1. They both have similar quality of work. Natalia has lots of good shots, and that’s a huge price difference. Go with her.

@aggiemae:  Ok, I’m going straight to the blog for both photographers, since you always want to see a full wedding or two and not just their “best of” photos in their portfolio.  We want to make sure they can handle indoor and outdoor lighting, nighttime, and dimly light receptions.

Arden is worth what she’s charging.  Her photos are beautiful and she’s clearly using professional equipment.  It looks like she uses a little bit of a gray tone overall in her editing.  I’ve seen other photogs do this… personally I always edit to light/bright colors, but that’s not to say her work isn’t stunning.  And it’s possible I’m seeing the gray tones because I was looking at winter stuff, but that is something that’s sort of a signature style for most photogs when I see it.

Natalia… It looks like the first full wedding on her website hasn’t been blogged since February 2011??   That’s a little weird. And she’s nowhere near as good.  At least if this wedding from 2011 is any indication.  Her work is good.  I think she could handle outdoors and good light very well, but her indoor ceremony/reception doesn’t look as good as Arden’s.  And I’ve found only two blogged weddings total…

I’m not saying she’d do a bad job for you.  She clearly has some talent and skill.  But the more expensive photographer is a lot better.  Only you and your Fiance and can decide if it’s worth the extra money to you.  If you’re having an indoor ceremony I’m not sure that Natalia covers that as well, but it’s all about what you guys think.  Weddings obviously have to be planned on a budget, and if you feel that money could be better spent elsewhere and you have realistic expectations of the results you will get, there’s nothing wrong going with the cheaper photog – as long as cheaper photog is still professional.  For me personally, photography was my #1 priority after venue but I recognize that that is not the case for everyone.

However, the fact that I find only two weddings on her blog and from so long ago concerns me.  I’d definitely ask her to see a couple full recent weddings before committing.  Maybe she is great, and she just doesn’t update her blog like she should…
