Oh! That really sucks for you!!

Personally, I would start looking for a wedding photographer, and drOp both of these.

Next, do either one of the photographers have an office? If so, it may be best to go and see them face to face and ask (in the most friendly way you can) what is happening with your pictures.

First off 4 months for and ENG is just ridiculous!! And the way both of these photographers have treated you is straight out unprofessional. I wouldn’t ruffle the waters with #1 since you still have to get through the wedding, but I would call him and express to him how you feel. Don’t do it in an email he needs to hear your voice. For #2 does have a fb business page? If he does and you can post to it. I would say something on these lines” Hi xxxxx, We’ve been waiting over 4 months to receive our photos from you. We are expecting to use them for STD and holiday gifts but feel like our requests and your promises to complete them have not been a priority to you, especially since I noticed other couples have seen their images though shot long after ours. I have emailed you my dropbox account information can you please upload the photos within the next day or so” {given, of course that your purchased the printing rights to the photos}. Doing this on his page means it’s public and other potential clients can see if. If he cares about his business he will address it right away.

When you call photog#1 I would just tell him you how much time went in to finding the perfect photographer and thought that was him but feel that after the contract was signed and trying to get in touch you are quickly loosing confidence in him. If the ENG session was part of the package on his contract then he can actually be in breach of it, since he is required to provide you with those services and you feel like he just ignored any attempt to set it up.

I agree with Pizzuto- Both Photographer’s here are acting completely unprofessional and I would look into finding another one who will provide better customer service for the wedding. It’s possible photog no. 2 bumped you behind his wedding clients in an attempt to keep them happy, which isn’t right either.

That being said, hopefully other bees can learn from your experience and try to avoid insisting on their engagement sessions during the busy summer wedding season. We wont even scedule engagements for that time of year at our company so I guarantee that was a factor in your treatment by photographer 1 and turnaround time for photographer 2. Not that I’m excusing them.

I’m sorry this is happening, but I do understand your frustration. Our photographer took 5 months to return our wedding images (with no special editing) and she wasn’t the most professional at times.

At this point I think you are best off trying to speak with both of them on the phone. Let #2 know that you would like them to give you a date to expect the engagement photos, since you have already waited 4 months, need to get a save the date put together and are disappointed in the service you have received so far.  With photographer #1, you will need to be a bit more diplomatic since they are still scheduled to photograph your wedding. But I do think it’s reasonable to ask them what services/products can be substituted for the engagement session, since that was not provided.

Not all professional photographers behave professionally. I know from experience. I thought going with someone who has photographed weddings for 10 years was a better choice, but it turns out it wasn’t. You just have to concentrate on making the best of the situation as it is now. Hang in there!

I really hope that this works out for you. How on earth does it figure that two photos, both with good reviews, both flake out on you? That makes no sense. I’m sorry that you’ve been having such bad luck.

So terrible! I’m sorry. What did your contracts say as far as dates and times?

@Jessy727:  I would very nicely ask him to resend the proofs, or if possible, meet you in person to hand them over, since the mail didn’t deliver them. (especially if they’re a disc of images). And if you’re supposed to have an online gallery, ask where the pictures are.

I hope some good luck comes your way!

Sorry you’re having such trouble OP. They are both slacking!

I personally dont give discs anymore I use a download gallery for E sessions, no waiting for snail mail. ๐Ÿ™‚ Downloads a zip file right to your computer or you can individually download each. I’ll add them to the thumb drive from the wedding as well when its time for final delivery. I only give a disc if its requested by my client.

@Styles:  That’s a smart idea! I hate burning discs, might have to try this instead ๐Ÿ™‚

@Jessy727:  Umm, isn’t that what Starbucks is for? I hope you get them soon!

You Tube video to music?  What?  What are the chances they bought the rights to whatever music they used?  Where are you finding these people?
