- Wedding: July 2013
Okay, so I just need to vent my fellow Bees.
Fiance and I got engaged and both decided that the one thing we would make priority would be the selection of the “perfect” photographer. Collectively we agreed that having amazing photos would be the only thing that we would have left over after the wedding that we could look at and remember our wedding day as it was.
So, after literally three months of reading wedding website reviews and ‘investigating’ many, many photographers we found the one we wanted. Although an hour and a half drive away, he was exactly what we wanted. Biggest thing was that it also included an engagement photo session.
So when it came time to schedule our engagement photos, photographer (who we already paid a HEFTY deposit on) is dodging every single e-mail I send him. I took this as maybe it was just typical wedding photographer busy time considering a lot of weddings occur during the summer and thats when I wanted our engagement photos taken. And the only e-mail I got back from him was a snotty response claiming extra fees he was going to charge. And I promise you, I was never rude in any e-mail so I don’t know why he got so rude. So needless to say, I got so sick of dealing with him I found a different photographer for engagement photos.
This new photographer seemed to be like a God sent angel. Not only were his photos absolutely breathtaking and perfect…they came with a hefty fee. I just did not want to get into a confrontation with Photog #1 so now Photog #2 is going to save our engagement photos. My hopes that were once crushed of having no engagement photos to place around the house or any cute photos I could use for my STD’s I wanted to send out were now starting to look a lot brighter.
So we take our photos mid-July. Photog #2 promises to get to work ASAP and get me the proofs. He even posted one to Facebook one day later that looked stunning. So Fiance and I waited. One month later, he added another to Facebook. And then a few weeks later, another one. That’s when they stopped.
So, now lets fast forward. Here we are (present day) FOUR MONTHS after our engagement photos. I have been to his website hoping for some proofs on there. Nope. Just other couples he photographed less than a month earlier posted with over 130 images each. Basically every engagement session he has done since ours in on this website. We have e-mailed/called him THREE times trying to look for an explanation. He keeps saying stuff like he “is waiting on a new disc writer” “im working on them!” and recently he flat out lied and said he mailed our package over a week ago. Considering photog #2 is in the same city as us, there is no way that package got lost in the mail or is taking this long to get to my house.
I have had absolutely nothing but bad luck with photographers, I am starting to realize. With how much money they cost and how many more hours of overtime and such I had to put into my work just to pay for them has me so upset. I’m to the point where I believe it isn’t even worth it. I’ve read so many reviews on both Photogs and no one has yet to say a bad thing about them. So I feel like if I review them it wouldn’t even be worth it to get my point across. I don’t want to back out of Photog #1 for the wedding because I have paid so much money towards a deposit I don’t thing I could afford another deposit yet another photographer.
Sorry so long..I just had to get it out. Fiance seems upset about it, but maybe it was a little more personal to me because pro photos are something I have been looking forward to for a long time and I’ve been a sitting duck waiting to get my STD’s ordered and sent out 🙁
