@Stephanie18x:  If you’ve called and left emails, the next thing to do is send a certified letter.  A photographer shouldn’t be expected to respond immediately, but anything beyond 72 hours is unprofessional.  It’s a little bit of a grey line as to whether or not she’s in breach of contract, but speaking from the perspective of a photographer I would never want to shoot a wedding for someone who didn’t have 100% confidence in me.  Perhaps she is looking for an out herself.

“Dear Unprofessional Jerk,

Both my mother and myself have made multiple attempts to contact you via email and phone to no avail.  While we understand that this is the the midst of wedding season it is important that we be able to communicate when needed. Especially to schedule sessions which is what I specifically am trying to contact you about.  Since our contract mentions cheerful cooperartion and communication, I am interpretting your lack of communication as a desire to sever our agreement.  If this is the case please send me a check for our full retainer amount to the below address. Please respond within 48 hours.  I can be reached at the following number or email address – ###.

Let us know how it plays out and if you need help finding another photographer!
