Our photographer, who we carefully chose and paid a hefty deposit for, emailed yesterday to let us know she would be 33 weeks pregnant on our wedding day. She offered to include another assistant free of charge or to do a full refund if we wanted. At first I thought we’d just have her assistant help her out through the day and it wouldn’t be a big deal, but then I realized that 33 weeks is 8.25 months and realllly close to possible labor.
Not sure what to do…take the chance that she won’t pop during the ceremony or start looking for someone else.

My friend had a photographer that was 6 months pregnant and it was fine. Even with the big belly she was getting into all of the action on the dance floor, and she also had an assistant. But at 33 weeks I feel like it might be better just to try to find someone else. That way you won’t be worrying about it.

i know plenty of pregnant photogs who rocked it out, one most recently at 40 weeks! they obviously had back up plans in place in case they went to labor early and most definitely had more assistants than usual to ensure that nothing was missed. i think that you need to feel comfortable with her and her backup plan in order to move forward. But she won’t be 8.25 months, she’ll be more around 7.5 with 7ish weeks to go. i think you’re in the clear, but again YOU have to be comfortable and that’s why she’s giving you the out if you want it! good luck!

I wouldn’t be so concerned with her abilities at 33 weeks, but I would be concerned about her ending up on bed rest, or going into labour early (it happens!). Maybe discuss a back up plan with her in more detail and see what comes out of it.
Definately take her up on the extra assistant because it will only be helpful.

If you are OK with her assistant (that’s a big IF), I would get the back up plan in the contract. Odds are everything will be OK but you never know…
