It sounds good to me, I haven’t researched much though. I would ask for specific people they have photographed to get personal references and ask to see a whole wedding, not just what’s on the website. That’t my advice.

Its hard to say if its a good deal or not without seeing their work. In my area, that much didn’t provide a good photographer, but prices vary a lot reigonally. Do they have a site where their work is displayed? Have you seen several full weddings?

Kapustic1017:  I think what is making the price lower is the package time. If you really only think you’ll need 5 hours of coverage then go for it!

Ours was $1300 for a similar package, except it had 10 hours of coverage for the first photographer (4 hours for the second photog) and didn’t include the print credit or the gallery session.

We had our hesitations at first because a lot of the more “known” photographers in our area charged upwards of $3,000 for similar packages. Our photographer is up-and-coming still, as he graduated college last year. We had our hesitations, but after our engagement photo experience and looking through his samples (of full wedding days, not just the highlights), we realized that he really is wonderful!

So I say, congrats on finding a great deal! 🙂

Kapustic1017:  most wedding packages I have seen are for 8 hours, so that may be the difference. I would have an engagement session before the wedding to make sure you like her work.

it really depends on what you mean by beautiful…. as long as you love the work, that’s all that matters.  without looking at their portfolio, $1300 ‘beautiful’ wedding photography usually looks like this: http://bit.ly/1koCcDH  (IMO, quite bad – people like the photo because of the couple IN the photo, when in fact, the photo itself quite bad and amateur – bad, out-dated editing, snapshot style composition, weird filter, location and placement of couple wasn’t considered while composing the shot, etc.) … BUT sometimes you can score a real deal if a quality photographer is looking to fill empty dates….

KapOct18:  how long has she been doing wedding photography? If you can only find a few reviews her price might be because she is newer and therefore has less experience.

I think the lower price is because there is no album (so no design work) and there is only 5 hours of photography.  Most wedding packages are 8-9, so 5 is quite low.

I would wonder about a couple of things

  • Are these reviews actual CLIENTS or are they just her friends & family?
  • Is she new to photographing weddings so her prices are cheap so she can build a portfolio?
  • What exactly is included in the packages?

I’d be very leery of these prices. However prices do vary depending on your location.
