Im not sure how a photographer can make a person look ashy, and i cant say i have come across any photographs like this. I’m browned skinned and I’ve been photographed by professional photographers many times in my life and have not had this issue. I would suggest chosing a photographer based on how much you like their work. Oh and being sure to wear lotion so you wont be ashy lol 😉

Just because somebody is ashy doesn’t mean its the photographers fault. If your ashy, your ashy! Get some lotion and quit blaming it on the photographer! (Not you, I am using “you” in a general term) I have seen this too and TBO, its a load of BS. A photographer can photograph any color of skin as good as any other color.

Anyone who can’t photograph people with certain skin tones is not a photographer. Don’t stress yourself out over this little detail, any good photographer knows how to compliment a bride’s skin. I have heard that certain formulas of makeup (like mineral makeup) can cause women to look a little grey in pictures, this is probably a myth though. Just go to Sephora and have someone do your makeup, if you’re really worried you could tell the girl that you want the “dewy” look, as long as you’re not worried about looking shiny.

NJmeetsBX, I see you live in DC. Me too! I have a wonderful photograher who definitely can photograph people of color no matter the differnce in their colors (you bieng light and him brown). Like th others said, a good photographer is a good photographer. I know it is tricky when a couple is dark and there is all white backgrounds, white clothing, etc, but it can be done!

Message me and I can give you my photos’ info.

Personally, I would look for a photog who you have a bond w/ and if your family and friends are like mine, who can give direction to bossy folks who aint shy in the least.(LOL)  My photog, Nancy, and I hit it off day one and I knew she could handle me, our families and our guests.

If you’re in the DC area, try Michael Clark photographers. He’s really good.

Scrole Vision is the photographer I am STRONGLY considering. He is not a native of the Chocolate City, but frequently is in the area and does WONDERFUL work. More of the photo journalistic approach which I love.
