Does anyone have ANY reccomendations for photographers in Mexico? What should I be looking for? Is it a lot “safer” to bring someone locally?
If anyone has ANY advice (or examples of pictures), I would love to hear it!

Hi! So I am not sure where in Mexico you are looking or if you are willing to pay for them to travel. But I actually got engaged in Mexico! We were at the Barcelo Los Cabos resort in San Jose Del Cabo, Mexico. Here is the proposal story:
Only pictures 1 and 3-7 are professional ones and the rest are from my person camera (pics 2 and 8-10). I couldn’t be happier with how the pictures turned out. He’s really good at photoshopping too- make sure you ask him for both he original ‘raw’ images and the photoshopped ones though… in case you want to do your own work on them! The name of the photographer was Desert Rose Photography and his name was Luis- I think he’s the only photographer there. Hope that helps and let me know if you have any other questions! Here’s his site too:

I recommending my wedding photographer. I love his works. I’m sure he does destination weddings too. The price seem reasonable to be, but I’m not sure. Check him out. I hope this works.

We got married in Hawaii, and we brought our wedding photog. She offers a nice deal for Destination Wedding. I know she did a wedding in Mexcio this year, too. Let me find the pictures!

I worked with Dino Gomez in Cabo on a destination wedding for a client of mine. Easy to work with and wonderful photos.

@mscuppycake: There are TONS of suggestions on the bestdestinationwedding board that I stalk. It is very overwhelming because there seems to be a huge market in Mexico, particularly mayan riviera/cancun area, so definitely no need to bring your own unless you have someone you adore.

- Wedding: April 2014 - Akiin Beach Club, Tulum Mexico
I will HIGHLY recommend awesome photographer Hideki Falcon from Button Up Photography in the Riviera Maya, Mexico. He is our photographer for our 2014 destination wedding in Tulum, Mexico – and couldn’t be happier!

There are actually lots of awesome photogs in Mexico. I hired Jillian Mitchell and she was great. Her prices are pretty much the same as what you’d find in the USA, unfortunately, but so is the quality. She’s actually an American living near Puerto Vallarta.
I feel like you’ll have more options if you’re fluent in Spanish (which I am not) since I personally think that it’s critical to be able to communicate with your photographer clearly.

I shot a friends wedding in Mexico last month
Since then, I’ve recieved multiple inquries for other mexico weddings and I’ve been turning them down. Personally, there’s too much stress involved shooting in Mexico. Travelling with 25k+ of gear, worrying about being robbed, deported.. the list goes on, not worth it for me. If you find some one who isn’t a stress ball like me, that has beautiful work that you think is worth flying there awesome, otherwise I would say to go for an amazing wedding photographer in Mexico. I love that Jillian Mitchell’s work that @cbgg mentioned, it’s beautiful and quite modern unlike what you’re more likely to get with a resort photographer. I’d definitely stay away from resort photographers if I was you, typically their gear isn’t up to par and their experience is limited to the resort.

Has anyone else used Jillian Mitchell or any other local photographers in the Nayarit Region in Mexico?
