- Wedding: October 2017
Hi! I am getting married in six months and am in the process of trying to find a photographer. My family has a “friend” who is a professional, and I was 100% ready to use this guy…but then I saw three of his albums and a slideshow and realized that it was just…bad. I don’t even know how else to describe it. I’m not picky and I don’t expect some Oscar-winning cinematographer to capture every candid and exceptional moment of my wedding, but his photos were as though someone had walked around taking pictures with an iphone. No creativity, no spontaneity, no softness, no candid wedding moments. I an having my wedding in Pawling, NY, which is about 40 minutes from Fairfield County in CT, 40 minutes from Westchester, and an hour from NYC. I am wondering if anyone here can recommend a photographer or give insight about how to go about choosing a photographer — of course, it is easy for a “wedding photographer” to post his 5 best pictures on a blog or website to give the impression of talent and soiphistication, but all too often it seems as though brides end up paying $2,000-5,000 for photographers that may or may not be of high quality. Some people are THRILLED with what they payed for, and some people are like, “Ehhh. I mean, it was okay. I don’t know if I’d recommend this person.” PLEASE HELP!!! My budget is not huge and I want to be efficient. Photography is a priority and if the person is excellent, I can cut money from other parts of the wedding to put towards that. But it seems as though there are extremely brilliant photographers out there that can do a wonderful job without charging thousands and thousands of dollars. Thanks!!!
