I’m not in that area, but if you find a photographer you like contact them about what they can do in your budget. Maybe that will mean less hours, less photos in your package, etc. but I’ve found most photographers are willing to work with a budget and adjust their services accordingly. I had an amazing photographer for just the ceremony and photos afterward which keeps the price down. I could have added on time, but we chose to capture the most memorable part of our day.

KatyKatCass:  Industry standards are usually around $3,000-3,500 for an 8-10 hour package. You’ll find some people saying it costs less their area, but most full time pros do tend to be in the 3k range (give or take a couple hundred dollars). Aside from cost of living, we all have the same costs of doing business (our gear costs the same, our website costs the same, etc…none of that changes based on location). Is your date really June 2017? If so, I would start researching NOW to find someone you love. Inquire about pricing and 2 years out is A LOT of time to save if you find someone you really love. Remember, photographers generally don’t require it all at once. You pay a retainer and most will allow you to make a couple of payments along the way – so long as the final balance is paid per their contract time. One option is to hire someone for less hours, because IMO, 5 hours with a GREAT photographer is better than 8 with an OKAY photographer.

KatyKatCass:  im in Brooklyn, NY and I found a photography&videography package for $3900. It included 10 hour coverage, 2 hr engagement session, 2 photographers and 1 videographer for the day of wedding, all rights to photos, all photos edited and photoshopped.

Would you be interested in a photographer thats just starting out? I know this is risky. But $3K and up is the going rate for a pro photographer in areas like Boston, NY, Cali.

We did extensive research to find our photographer bc when we first started calling around we were getting quotes of $4500 and up and that was the bare minimum. It was including 8 hr coverage, 1 photographer, no engagement shoot, no rights to photos, you had to pay a few hundred extra for that, no videography-that was an extra $2K

So dont give up, it is possible to find someone within your budget!

Im in Boston and paying $2900. All my research into photographers put them in that range if they did work that I liked. I did find a lot of people that were more affordable and just starting out advertising on Facebook groups for the area.
