@Bebedreamr:  I am on a tight budget like you. We can’t afford a full photography package so I negotiated a deal with a our photographer to cover our ceremony and group shots/newlywed photos afterward. Her packages start at $2400 but I got the ceremony coverage, all images on disc, an album and 50 prints for $850.

My MOH is starting up her photography business, and after a few weeks I said to her “I don’t want to come across as selfish, but do you want to take some preparation and reception shots?” – she was stoked because she wanted to ask but didn’t want to come across as selfish herself! So what my paid photographer isn’t covering, my MOH will, on the proviso that she is a guest first and foremost. I get photos, and she gets to build her portfolio. Awesome deal.

Just be mindful that some photographers (who are being paid) can get antsy about another photographer also taking photos and getting in the way.
