I came across a thread that brought wedding albums in my attention.
I’m a Canadian bride getting married in the Philippines. I shopped around local photographers in there already and noticed most of them sell “US bound album.” On this thread: http://boards.weddingbee.com/topic/how-much-was-your-professional-photo-album/page/2 another bee mentioned Italian made album.
For those of you who have your albums on hand already or have shopped around albums more than I have, what makes US & Italian album any different quality-wise?

That was actually me. lol. I just included that because that was how it was described in the package. It’s mostly included to let you know that it will take more time for you to get it back because it is sent overseas vs local. Though I did make a trip to Italy a few years back and they do make beautiful leather, I have no reason to believe that a US made album would be a lesser quality. All the albums we saw from photogs- US and Italian made (2 were Italian made and 2 were US made, but I think that was purely coincidence) were high quality. We just liked the style and quality of our photog’s albums the most.
I added the second comment about it being legit b/c I thought someone might say it’s just a ploy to get more money or time, but he is Italian and studied in Italy and we know a previous client of his that assured us he really does get them from Italy.

There is a pretty major album supplier that is based in Italy that some US photographers use. They aren’t much more expensive than some of the other ones we use.

And I’m fairly certain in most cases, the difference (if there is one) would be seen in the leather and maybe the printing/paper not the photos. Our photographer does all the editing and design himself.

The company I’m speaking about is called Graphistudio, and while they make a very nice product it’s not superior necessarily to some of the other album vendors we’ved used that are US based.
