We printed our invites and the wedding will start at 3:30. We’re still debating about a first look. He absolutely doesn’t want it but I feel like we have to have it in order to get our pictures in.
We’re having a Friday wedding so we didn’t want to start the wedding any earlier but it’s a mid-September wedding in NY (not NYC). With 50 guests and our honor couple being the only bridal party, do you think 5-7 pm after the wedding is ample time for pictures?
I don’t care about “altar call” pictures at the church (it’s an old falling-apart church). We rented a vineyard for our reception that is absolutely gorgeous and I want the bulk of the photos there. So I have to contend with daylight…

I’m a little bit confused. When does your reception start? Is there a gap between your ceremony and reception? A lot of travel time between locations?
Two hours is probably adequate time for pictures, my only concern would be whether you’re missing two hours of your reception in order to get the pictures done. If I were you, I’d try to convince your Fiance to do the first look. I’ve heard from so many Bees that loved doing theirs, I don’t think anyone has said they regretted it after. My Fiance didn’t really want to do one at first, but I convinced him that it will be much easier and more fun for us if we get as many photos as possible out of the way prior to the ceremony, so we can hopefully enjoy more of our reception. Good luck!

You probably only need 45 mins to an hour for the pictures, add in travel time and there you go. Worst case, you miss some of the cocktail hour.
