I discovered my parents wedding album about a month ago and to my absolute delight/horror/amazement found the ‘brandy glass’ shots. So, I took a pic of it with my iPhone and used it as part of our engagement party slidehow. (Photos of us on loop on screens around the venue).

My mum was absolutely mortified lol. I’d put it on here, but it really is that bad and I have no desire to be disowned.

As mad as it sounds, I quite like the idea of the ‘bride on the loo’ shot, but maybe that’s just my sense of humour. Personally, I don’t mind how mine look as long as we look happy. (And I look thin…) lol. (Ps. I’m on the wedding diet – if it tastes good, spit it out!)

I hate the angled pictures. I specifically chose my photographer because she did not have any angled pictures on her blog (and because she’s awesome).

Stand up straight!!

@FutureMrsChaney: OMG yes. I had a friend who got married memorial day weekend and that was one of the pictures her photog had us doing… it was mind numbing 0_O And seriously… jumping in 3 inch heels on soft grass. Unfun.

A lot of these have been mentioned already, but I’m going to reiterate anyway haha.

Dislike:

Fish eye. For real? One picture in fish eye is prbably enough for an entire album! Most hated trend ever.

-Angled pictures/the tilt

-posed pictures — the ones where it is bride stand with so&so, then the next person and the next person… yeah no thanks.

-the peeking pictures

-anything jumping or with BMs flowers in the air.

-flowers on the brides train

-selective colouring.

-the ‘hands’ pictures.

Like:

natural pictures, candids or true photojournalistic style

action shots (not posed/staged ones)

I hate it when the vintage edit is over-used, and personally only think it looks good or appropriate when the natural light would mimic the vintage edit/sun flare.

SHOTS I HATE: some of these are not a big trend now….but I just wanted to state that I hate them. lol

I HATE JUMPING SHOTS! even when it is JUST the Groomsmen

I also REALLY hate group shots in a straight line standing nut to butt….uh YEAH SO DONE WITH THAT!

Pictures of the Groomsmen and Bm hanging on eachother. i don’t know about you but most of my friends and family are married already and I really don’t need what LOOKS LIKE a couple shot of two people who ARE NOT COUPLES!! Not to mention I am sure their dates or husband/wife will feel uncomfortable.

U or V lines shots of bridal party in the church WITH the bride and groom on their own steps

Things I can’t find pictures of
*”Peek around another person so only your head is showing” shots
* fanned out dress shots….it looks better when the dress falls naturally. You can still get good details of it without fanning the darn thing out

SHOTS I LOVE

Ground angles and vise versa

REAL action shots

What about PHOTOBOOTHS?Does that fall under “PHOTO TRENDS”?

NO jumping, NO sunglasses, NO flirting with the bride or groom by the opposite bridal party, NO color saturation FOR SURE!

I like the props for engagements…on the wedding day it might be a little weird to say “Hold on guys…I need to go grab the balloons/cupcakes/antlers/etc.” The engagement photos (IMO) are a time to be silly if you want.

I agree with most of the other Bees that “Antiquing” of a photo can be done tastefully as long as it’s not the whole album. BUT that being said…some brides like that look for their whole wedding b/c it’s the feel of the wedding.

I just wanted to revive this to express my irritation that 7 months on (from this thread) the sun burst and yellow sky trend shows no signs of stopping.  Sigh.

@confettiegg2000: That’s what I was going to say.  And, I’m not into the vintage hazy bland pictures.

@kryje003: My fiance doesn’t want to see me until I walk down the aisle but I really like first look pictures, I’ve never heard of around the corner so thank you I think this might be a great alternative. 🙂

@luvmyDwight: That reminds me:  I am so sick of seeing headless photos (bride and bridesmaids from the shoulders down, crazy socks pics, bride and groom from shoulders down, etc).  I feel like future generations are going to be like, “Why would someone want a photo without their face on purpose?”

i.e., http://wedinator.icanhascheezburger.com/2010/12/31/funny-wedding-photos-headless-groomsmen/

I want to know who are in the photos when I am looking back on my albums in 20 years and not have to guess.

If you look at Barbie’s wedding photos, those are everything that I don’t like. lol
