Is anybody else getting their photos done before their ceremony? We are since our ceremony will be at 6pm on the beach and the cocktail hour/reception will immediately follow in the beach club. I am trying to find a timeline of when we should start the picture-taking process so that we’re not running late (I refuse to be late for my own ceremony!!! ha). My photographer is awesome and flexible but I just want to know so I can make hair/make-up appointments. Thanks all!!

We are doing pictures before the ceremony as well. We also have a 6pm ceremony time. Our wedding planner has us beginning pictures by 3;30pm so that we have enough time to get them in and also have a first look. We have the hair and makeup artist coming around 1 or so. I hope this helps.

My photographer suggested an hour and a half for portraits if that helps.
But I would definitely talk to your photog and ask them how much time they recommend.

I think it depends on how many pictures you plan on taking before the ceremony and if you will be getting pics done at several locations.
I have a similar situation as you. Our ceremony starts at 6:30 with the cocktail hour immediately following so I want most of the pics taken beforehand. I plan on starting pictures at about 3pm to allow for some getting ready pics and we will also be going to several locations in the city to get pictures taken. I don’t want to feel rushed so it is important to me to start early. I also think you might want to factor in a bit of time after the pictures are taken to freshen up before the ceremony starts.
I think it’s also a good idea to talk this over with your photographer to see what they recommend. I’m considering actually maybe starting a little bit earlier, maybe closer to 2:30 or 2.

We took our pictures before the ceremony as well except for family portraits. We started pictures at 4 because we didn’t have any getting ready shots and went straight to the first look.
