We’re doing ours before the ceremony – even with the guests! But I’m a slightly older bride, so having that big reveal moment isn’t that important to me. Many people who opt to do photos before the ceremony still do a special reveal moment for the bride and groom if they want it – you just have to ask. I almost think that would be more special because it really is just you and the groom. I have had more than one bride tell me they really wish they had done the photos before instead of after because walking down the aisle is a special moment already, whether or not he’s already seen you : )

I am doing both! We are doing a first look and some photos before and then doing some after just to cut down on the time between the ceremony and reception!

We’re doing a “reveal moment” and getting all the pictures done before the ceremony. As a married friend put it to me when we were trying to decide, “Walking down the aisle is special enough because you are walking toward the rest of your life with that person. Taking in the way they look, etc. for the first time is just more that you have to take in all at once.” Also, I know that’s going to be a really stressful day for me, so I want to spend a few moments BEFORE the biggest decision of my life alone with the one I love. I hope that helps!

We only took photos after our ceremony because my husband insisted that he not see me until I walked down the aisle.  After the wedding, he felt differently.  We built in a time buffer between the ceremony and cocktail hour, however, we still spent a significant portion of our cocktail hour taking photos.  If we could do it again, we would definitely take most of the photos prior to the ceremony.
