“Reverse racism”. It gets to me every. single. time.
Why? Because reverse racism isn’t a bad thing, like people make it out to be. Before you flame me, hear me out! Reverse racism would really just be everyone of every race getting along and loving each other.
Because racism doesn’t define just white people disliking black people (as so many in the South tend to assume); it goes every direction. No race can be excluded from racism. Someone can hate you for being Japanese just as easily as they can hate you for being Native American. But when I hear someone talking about a black person hating a white person, and they use the term “reverse racism” it drives me insane!
Reverse is the opposite of something stated.
Racism is a belief or doctrine that inherent differences among the various human races determine cultural or individual achievement, usually involving the idea that one’s own race is superior and has the right to rule others (according to Dictionary.com).
There is NO such thing as reverse racism, (except for maybe universal tolerance.)
Sorry for my rant; I’ve just heard it a lot lately from people around me (and, sadly, on FB) and it irks me endlessly.
What phrases have YOU heard that are commonly misused and/or abused?

Never heard the phrase reverse rasicsm before. But I agree with your post.
Phrase that annoys me…”That’s cray!”
Like really?! How hard is it to just say crazy?

havent heard that one either, but I agree with you 100%
I cant stand when people say “true” to something you just said… blah just cant stand it, say something else, anything else!

I hate it when people find out I’m Irish and they say “Top of the mornin’ to ya!” and think its absolutely hilarious. The very first time I ever heard that phrase I was in England and the guy who said it was so confused because he thought we said it all the time back home.
Another one I can’t stand is St Patty for St Patrick, it’s St Paddy or St Patrick and never the woman’s name Patty. Makes me cringe!

@StefLovesJamie: Arghh you don’t know how many people I have had that argument with! Some of the most racist people I have ever met weren’t white and I was shocked at how other people wouldn’t pull them up on it!
I dislike OMG and redonculous. And I really dislike text speak.

“I adopted a pet.” Did you really? Instead of giving birth to it? Obviously I know what it means, but it seems so high and mighty.

@babeandbabe: I agree, I hate the ‘cray’ thing too!

“I could care less.” should be ” I couldn’t care less”! Bugs me every time!

When people say, “Shut the front door,” instead of “STFU.” I don’t know why, but it is the WORST, only 2nd to the “cray-cary,” “totes,” “whatevs” phenomenon.

“Tim Horton’s Cafe and Bake Shop”
Drives me nuts whenever I see the commercial. That’s a lot of words to describe a donut place.

@VAwife: Amen! Hate, hate, HATE that!

‘Oh wurrr, my burrr’
Fiance says that ALL the time and I just want to scream. It’s supposed to mean oh word, my bad. But some ‘cool guys’ on a podcast that he listens to, so now he has to say it lol

“aks” – the word is ASK – how are so many people NOT ABLE TO PRONOUNCE THIS WORD!!!!
@VAwife: That’s exactly what I was going to say. I HATE that!
It also bugs me when anyone says something along the lines of “all I ask,” because, really, it’s never the only thing they’re going to ask.
And when someone asks “right or wrong?” after they tell you something. Obviously they just want you to agree with them.
Haha sorry there are a bunch from me!
