I know one way to help that is to open the image in Paint and then upload that file, instead of the original.  I don’t know why that helps me, but it does.

If you don’t have an editing program but use Microsoft here is a trick – when you open up a picture using the standard picture viewer (just go to the pictures folder and click on the pic you want, don’t open a special picture program) there should be a button at the top that says "EMAIL" , click on it and it will shrink the picture to an email size, if it gives you a size option select Small or Medium.  Then email the pictures to yourself and reopen them and resave them (you will need to rename them or save them in a new folder). Voila!  I keep a folder on my desktop titled "websized pics" that I save the pics in that I email myself.

I usually open the image into MS Paint then click Ctrl+W
I "Stretch" the image to like 20% (if it’s huge) but usually to the size that it would fit into a post.  Then Save As a jpg.
