Hi fellow bees
Long time lurker, first time poster so go easy on me! Heres the low down:
My SO and I have been looking at rings for months (started looking in Novemeber) and I have gone through liking the entire spectrum of rings. I started by liking halo round stone twisted pave and HATING solitaires (even though I would never actually try them on). I researched and browsed stores and fell in absolute love with princess cut trellis/lucida lowset rings. All of my researching is how I came to find the bee!. We came close to custom making a ring (like he had a couple mold and the princess, not square, moissy I wanted) but I had a weird gut feeling about the jeweller and I just didnt feel comfortable because he never listened to what I was saying/wanted and kept changing things in the mold that I didnt want changed. ANYWAYS
I always manage to find something, no matter how small, wrong with the rings we saw in jewellery stores and here in Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada there are 3 options: Peoples/Charm, SpicerCole, and Magee jewellers and so we basically ran out of options.
Because SO and I had a date set for the ‘actual’ proposal (thats a story for another post if people are interested haha) and that date was fast approaching I came up with the idea for a “placeholder” ring for the following reasons: We are moving to Calgary in less than 3 months and we will have A LOT more options for jewellers there, we didnt want to change the date, and we did NOT want to settle, and some other little stuff.
So with the stress off our shoulders we went searching again, but this time for something different! first we thought we wanted a “look a like” maybe a cubic or crystal solitaire or white sapphire and I found a few low princed options that we liked. But after a bit more searching I realised I wanted a colored stone. I LOVELOVELOVELOVE blue sapphires – and I mean I am CRAZY about the color blue alone so make it into a sparkly stone and bam! love.
Anyways for what you probably clicked on this post for! We picked this beauty of a ring out and I was VERY hesitant because of the price and told SO to go for the less expensive one because at this point I would say yes to a milk tab but he knows me too well and knew I loved this ring before I knew I did. We ended up getting 100$ off from doing a store feedback survey so I feel slightly less bad.
We just picked it up from getting it sized down (7 to a 5). I am as giddy as can be!!!! I wish it wasnt so high but hey I am picky I know
Its super sparkly in person I promise!
