I would go with sand garden, as the colour will be better for stains and wear than frosted oak.

I voted for Sandgarden.  I don’t really have rational reasoning for it.  The Frosted Oak just seemed too dark and not right for me.

Oh God, I know the stress of this decision – this is all I did today. It’s JUST LIKE buying a dress, b/c you know if you end up not liking it, you still have to live w/ it. Personally, I’m not digging the shag on either of those, and maybe a darker tan with less contrast (the weird black fuzzies randomly thrown in there keep distracting me).

holy jeebus – I went to Rooms to go, roomstore, rose brothers, the mall, pier one, haverties, ethan allen and FINALLY old time pottery today…all to help a friend pick out carpet. and DEAR GOD we found the best one at the cheapest store (imagine that!).

Frosted oak’s too dark, IMO. The really dark strands look a little out of place. We have a similar color (maybe lighter?) to the sandgarden and it looks very nice, even after years of wear. Very neutral color too, so it goes with your walls even if you decide to paint ’em.

@panterapeach: I totally understand! I was getting the “glazed eye,” too! And, b/c my friend is fasting for religious reasons right now (and I was stupid enough to leave the house w/o eating breakfast) I had to make up some excuse to run by my house real quick, stuff some pop tarts into my face, and then head back out for another 4 hours. Your Fiance is a good dooobie – I hope you spoil him tonight!

My Fiance is sooooooo lucky: we’re picking out curtains tomorrow! *maniacal laugh*

Frosted Oak is too dark with the darker furniture and mossy green color. I think Sand Garden is much more complementary to your existing decor.

I choose carpeting based on what will look best with cat hair and cat puke (I love my kitties!).

I guess i’m luckier in that when we buy a house and redo the flooring, carpet won’t be an option due to allergies! I like the shorter carpets with lerr contrast for your home 🙂
