naturallyd86: I originally had wanted him to pick my ring. He knew I wanted a solitaire and would have probably done a good job but when we went looking at rings, I fell in love with one when I put it on! So, from that point on, that was basically it. And I found out about moissanite on here and he was all for that so it all ended well! I hear horror stories sometimes about guys picking the total wrong thing. Heck, apparently my Dad even did it to my Mom way back when and she had even told him the exact ring she was looking for!

I had basically the same thing with my fiance. He told me to tell him what I really liked, but we didn’t want to go ring shopping together in case we ran into someone we knew. My mom and I went to jewelry stores and tried rings on and had an absolute blast. I ended up wanting a ring I never thought I’d like and it’s exactly what I got. I always used to want to be surprised, but getting exactly what I wanted made me happy and made him happy. Plus the memories I made with my mom were really fun and special.

My fiance just knew that I wanted a princess cut diamond. And the ring he picked for me was awesome! The carat size was originally a .25, but there are small diamonds around it as well.
We aren’t getting married until June, but already upgraded the center stone to a half carat. I liked the element of surprise!

naturallyd86: We picked my setting together. However, I had never seen it with a diamond in it until he proposed, so the finished product was a surprise.

We are in the process of looking, I want him to ultimately make the decision from a few that we both like and are within budget.

I gave Mr Trilly a few options for rings that I liked. We went to a jewelry store to get my ring size one day, and I tried on a few diamond rings so he could see what different size stones looked like. Then he picked the size and setting he liked the best!

naturallyd86: I picked my own and I’d do it again. Darling Husband would have picked something good but I’m the one who has to love it. He and I ended up loving the same one anyway so it worked out. I think it depends on how particular you are about jewelry. In my case I had something really specific in mind.
I will add when I tried my ring on I couldn’t picture having any other ring.
