I’ve never thought about using Picnik for STD’s/invites, but I do know that my friend Picnik’d a perfect picture of us with a quote on it, and when I printed it/took it to a photo kiosk, the words got cut off at each side. I think you can do it, but be careful about text spacing and margins.

Could you maybe print out a picture you want to be on your invites and then print the invite information on the back, so it looks like the picture you want to use is the backer? That might be easier than Picnik, since my experience with Picnik and a lot of text was not a good one.

We used snapfish or kodak.com I can’t remember, it was really affordable and they came out nice. We bought the simple ones though.

I used picnik for my Save-The-Date Cards and then uploaded the image at vistaprint. It was a pain in the butt (only because I am a perfectionist, lol), but they turned out really nice.
