several people on the board have mentioned how they’ve noticed differences between individual amora gems, regardless of their color/clarity. some just have more fire/brilliance to them, others more dull. as a result, i’ve decided to order two AGs for comparison and return one later on.
do you notice any difference between the two? i’ll post up their profiles after you guys have a chance to look at them. for now, i’ll just label them Top and Bottom. 😉

I don’t have a great eye for these things, but it’s weird because I like the bottom one in the top 2 pics and the top in the bottom 2 pics! I’m curious what other people say though. I don’t think you can really go wrong. They’re both very pretty.

Me too – exactly like you said. I’m sure they’re both lovely in person though.

Hmm they both look beautiful but I love the way the top gem looks in the last picture. Last summer I bought a 1.21 F IF amora gem ultra and hated it( I swear it looked plastic), I now have a 1.65 G Vs1 amora gem ultra and I love it. So I do believe some are better than others, the first one I had was a dud in my opinion because I’ve seen other F IF amora on here that are gorgeous. I also think that it’s possible that the gems being produced now have improved from the ultras that were released last year.

Whoops! It’s been a while and I forgot to come back and post their profiles.
Top AG: 1.47 carat (equivalent), IF E
Bottom AG: 1.46 carat (equivalent), VS1 F
For my SO and myself, we couldn’t tell the difference between the two after a while. The top one is slightly smaller than the bottom one, and that’s about all the physical difference we could see.
They’re both sparkly as far as we’re concerned, but for us, it was one of those things where we weren’t comfortable with making a purchase unless we can see it in person and have a comparison.

I think they are both equally beautiful and I don’t really see a difference. I think that I would take whichever one was cheaper in this case UNLESS to your eyes there are properties you like better in a particular stone (it’s hard to see in pictures what you would be seeing with your own eyes).
The first Amora I bought was a 1.59ct F VS2 last year and I was not crazy about it for various reasons. It looked way smaller than it was listed for especially when compared to several other stones I had, the cut was chunky and it looked kind of dull- definitely not what I was expecting from a stone where the properties should optically be more sparkly than a diamond/moissanite. I sent it back, and didn’t regret it at all. I figured I would wait and make sure the next one was amazing.
the second one I got was THE stone. I got a 1.87 ct G VS2 and it was 100% what I was expecting that the first one was lacking.

I’m glad you found an AG that matched what you were looking for! To be honest, my SO and I have very little experience with diamonds, so despite doing a crap ton of research online, it was hard for us to compare an AG against a diamond in real life. Having said that, this may sound ignorant, but we liked what we saw with the AG and that was good enough for us. Now I’m tempted to bring it in to a store and compare it next to a diamond!

You should get someone to mix them up in different settings and then you pick which one you like best (a blind test) to see if there is any consistency between the one you like in different lighting.
