I actually got my ring back from the jewelers well over a month ago, but I’ve been traveling a lot, so I haven’t had the time to post anything until now.
The sapphire that came with the ring was very sleepy. It would glow in the direct sun, which was pretty, but it just didn’t do the ring justice. Not to mention, I love sapphires, and I wanted to see some of that blue colour at all times of the day.
So here’s the before – 1 ct. emerald step-cut sleepy sapphire in a halo and split shank band
And the after – 1 ct. rectangular radiant-cut sapphire in a halo and split shank band
The only thing I was a little saddened about was that the prongs were pushed together more after switching the stone. I liked the original prongs, but it doesn’t bother me at all now.
*Although the pictures are taken with different light, the new sapphire looks pretty much the same in outdoor and indoor lighting, it catches the light really well.
Well, there it is, my beauty. I’m completely in love with it, but I’m in love with the fact that it’s from my soul mate, even more. Can’t wait to marry the love of my life!
On a side note, would anyone know what kind of wedding ring to pair with this style? I’m not a fan of bent wedding rings and I won’t be soldering them together, as I would like to wear the more subtle wedding ring alone when traveling and what not.
I’ve been kind of thinking of doing a thin rose gold diamond band, but I’m not sure how it would look with the white gold and the blue sapphires. Something like this? Or would that look weird? If anyone has pictures of their sets with mix-matched coloured gold, I would love to see them! Especially with coloured stones in the engagement ring!
P.S. Thanks for reading this absurdly long post!
