This was one I came across awhile back.  I thought it was an awesome bouquet.

My bouquet was not what I wanted–it was supposed to be mostly hydrangea with roses and call lillies, but it was pretty much roses and calla lillies…

Mine was roses, garden roses, hydrangeas, and calla lilies.  I don’t have any good pictures of it back yet though 🙁 It looked great!

@Mrs. Cooper: To save a little money, we had Darling Husband wear a calla lily, and I had calla lilies in my bouquet, but no one else had any 🙂

@Mrs. Cooper:  For the top bouquet, you’re probably looking at the bridal bouquet being around $120 (before labor). Lindsay12.31.2010‘s idea of only using calla’s in the bridal bouquet and the grooms bout is great!  I know that the shop I work at charges $5 per stem for the calla lilies, so keeping them out of the other arrangements would save you a bunch of money.

@LindsayMaree: Haha, no wonder we always respond to the same floral posts.  I work as a wedding director for a florist, LOL!

@Linz1231:  Haha  Weird that we’re both Lindsay’s AND work with flowers all day…  Long lost twin?!

@Mrs. Cooper:  Hmm…What do you think about gerber daisies?  They take up a lot of space on a bouquet so you’ll need a few less roses, though still looking full.  Plus, they’re a really playful flower and come in TONS of colors.  You could also do a bouquet of ONLY gerbs as well.  I found a couple pictures of what I mean.

Gerbs, hypericum berries, spray roses (small roses), and bear grass (approx. $50/ bouquet):

Only gerbs (approx $40/ bouquet):

Do either of those look like something you’d like?  You could even incorporate a couple gerbs into your bridal bouquet as well (just substitute some of the roses so it doesn’t raise the price) and it’ll look coherent and really stunning.

@Mrs. Cooper: There is going to be an upcharge for the David Austen roses your florist wants you to use – they are actually garden roses, which is a totally different kind of rose.  For example, at my shop, we can order regular roses for a certain price, and the David Austen roses are three times that price.

Have you considered using carnations? I know they don’t sound particularly elegant – but they are stunning when they are clustered together.

@LindsayMaree: Oh yeah, we are definitely long lost twins! I have never even met anyone who spells Lindsay the way I do, haha! 🙂
