anhelms:  I’m getting married mid-Sept and I’m doing as many photos as I can before the wedding. First look at 2pm. Photos with bridal party 3pm to 4pm. Wedding is at 5:30pm. A few more photos afterwards and then we are free!

We did a first look and all the formal photos before the ceremony (immediate family and bridal party), and then did the more candid type photos during cocktail hour.

I can’t remember the exact times…but I think it was something like this:

3:30 first look

3:45-4:30 formal photos of family/bridal party

5:00 ceremony

5:30-6:30ish cocktail hour/more photos

7:00 dinner

We did have some Out of Town guests that showed up a half hour early, so it was a little rushed getting me back into “hiding” before the ceremony. We also have small families and only 1 attendant each, so our bridal party was also small. If you have bigger families/BPs you might need more time.

anhelms:  Not weird at all! Photos are all you will have besides memories! I would time it so that guests are seated and ready for the ceremony to start by 6:45pm. I would use “6:30” as the official ceremony time, and allow for stragglers to get seated. By starting for real at 6:45 pm, that should be enough time for the bridal party (if you are having one?) to make their way down the aisle, followed by you. The sunset should be looking over you for your vows, and then shortly after the sun will be gone and it is time for the party 🙂 If you did this timing, I would suggest something like this:

2:00 Get ready- hair/makeup

4:00 First look & pictures

6:30 Ceremony time on invite

6:45 Processional to start

7:20 Ceremony over, reception to start! Give 30 minutes or so for family photos, but keep in mind if you are planning to do a late ceremony, guests will be starving and want to go right into the food/dinner.
