I’m not sure exactly what category this would fall into so I’ve put it here. So I can see now how quickly things are adding up at my venue. I was just speaking to the coordinator at the venue we’re having our wedding in and she said that if we want to use the video projector its going to cost us an extra 2000$!!! First of all is that normal? I think its insane! But anyway, I wanted to do a short video/slideshow of us but have retired that idea because it’ll be way out of our budget. Now im wondering, has anyone done any classy/creative boards to display on an easel at the reception hall? I was thinking of doing a sort of picture timeline of our lives/relationship/how we met because i know that a lot of people/other sides of family won’t know how we met/fun facts about us ect.

Hi – wow $2000 sounds insane I agree for borrowing a projector. Maybe others can opine on that, since we didn’t use one at our reception.
As for the alternative you mentioned, I have seen at other pple’s weddings where they have set out pictures in frames of the bride and groom at different ages in their life (from baby pics up to adulthood, along with their engagement photos). I have also seen pictures displayed of both sides of the bride and grooms families.
I have only seen these done where they displayed the frames on a table either by the guestbook/sign in book or alone. Not necessarily creatively displayed but looked really nice and adds such a personal touch. Either way i think its a great idea to do something like you had suggested to show a timeline of both of your lives and to the point where you both met and then got engaged, etc. 🙂

If you still want to do a slideshow, you can do what we did – bought an digital picture frame and set it on the guest book table.

That sounds insane for a projector! Most places I looked were like $200 max. Wow.

This couple asked all their guests to bring a photo of themselves with the bride, groom or the couple.
Here’s one on an easel

Hmm.. can you bring in your own projector? Or negotiate the price somehow….That is what I did. It’s insane how much the venues tries to make make off of borrowing their projectors when we were only using it for 5 mins for a slideshow. My venue wanted to charge $500!
