If that is what you like then I say have the pie.  The wedding is about you, not about what everyone else thinks you should do.  I’m sure not everyone will love everything about my wedding but they can have their day the way they want it and I will have mine my way.

LOVE this idea! I originally wanted to do it but I have had a life long love affair with cake.

We are having a pie buffet and soooo excited about it. Unfortunately my mom had a hissy-fit that we were not having cake…so we are now having cake and pie.

We did a two-tier wedding cake, 4 pies and a tart…guests went crazy over everything!  My hubby loves carrot cake so that was the largest tier in the cake and I am a pie fan, although I have to say I didn’t really get to have any at the reception…so make sure you do!

Great idea! There’s a bee (Miss Frogy?) doing that too, you should look on the blog!

I’ve seen a pie buffet, it was received well. I think this is one tradition that some people will be shocked if you break with, but really isn’t a big deal.

Love the idea of a pie buffet, and really if that’s what you like better go for it.  My only advice would be to make more pie than you are planning on having guests for.  Especially if you have different flavors, guests may want to try more than one kind, and if you have leftovers, oh well!  Pie for breakfast!

Mrs. Cowboy Boot did a pie buffet that was very lovely. In my honor would you please do a peach cobbler??? jk

I think this is a great idea, it merges dessert and cake so well. I second gcwest, though, estimate what you think you need then add more. Just make sure it’s not too much stress on the prospective baker(s).

YAY – – We’re having a Pie Bar (or Buffet whichever whatever..) and I cannot wait. We’re so so excited. When we first told my parents my father was like, “what no cake, whats a wedding without a cake…” we all laughed and he was just being wise. Everyone is thrilled to learn of our Pie Bar, I hope its a huge hit!

I think its great thats what you’re doing and no I don’t think it will be too much work at all Laughing

Mmmmmm, I much prefer pie to cake as a dessert! We went to a wedding with a bunch of pies instead of a cake (I think they did apple, blueberry, and one other–pecan, maybe). It was delicious and everyone loved it! I’d advise having extra pies–it seemed like a lot of people ate two or more pieces b/c they wanted to try them all 🙂

I think every man in my family would love to go to a wedding with pie. I don’t know what it is, but they would all prefer it over any other dessert any day. Go for it!

Oh, and like Julialimei said, if you do a buffet, plan enough for everyone to have more than one slice.
