We are not doing a cake, we are doing pie, I am trying to figure out how to make the one we eat for the “cake cutting ceremony” special or different. I do not want to do frosting, trying to figure out if a topper would work or if there is some other idea to distinguish it….
I am toying with surprising him with a groom cake. If I did that would it be super uncouth to have that for the whole feed eachother deal but then not let people eat cake – only pie?

Well, if it is a small cake, then I don’t see how any one can exspect to eat it anyway. But depending on what kind of pie you have, one could still use a topper on it to make the cutting one special.

We’re doing both pie and cake. I bought two round crystal platters for our cake and our display pie, and we aren’t putting out the rest of the dessert, so they will be the only ones that people see. It’s special because its your pie!

Ok thanks ladies, we have been planning for Pie for like 2 years and when one of my Aunts heard that at Easter she was horrified and kept talking about it until another Aunt changed the subject. haha so that makes me feel better. I will look for a topper that might fit.

We are also doing pie, but I am going to make a cheesecake just for us.

I totally thought of this little pie that I saw earlier this week when I read your post! I think its a wonderful idea! Im not a huge cake fan either and would love to just do a dessert buffet with a baby cake to cut (for SO’s sake lol)
