I bought my wedding dress a few weeks ago and think I mostly love it (especially the neckline) but I feel like something isn’t quite right and was hoping you all might have an idea or two about what needs changing before I see my alterations lady… I can’t tell whether the skirt needs to go out a bit more or if the embroidery goes down a bit far or if there’s something else off (or if I’m just daft and it’s because I’m usually surrounded by bright colours, polka dots and cartoons so the dress is just very different to normal everyday I work in a field me). Maybe it just needs something to give it a bit more personality? P.S. please be nice… I don’t want to accidentally end up hating it!

You look beautiful! Just from the photos, I think you could ask your alterations lady to be sure it fits you well in the bust – it looks like it could be taken in a bit.
But for a more ‘major’ change, if you’re looking for something a bit more drastic, I think it would look so beautiful if you had them cut the sleeves off right along the sleeve seam. I think that wide-strap tank style would look great. It would show off those arms but still have the loveyly modesty that your dress does very well! 🙂 Just an idea – Good luck!!

I agree with the PP about the sleeves. I would also go a bit further and use the scalloped edge of the bottom of the sleeve to cover the seam.
I also think maybe you could lower the neckline and also make it a more obvious sweetheart. With the illusion lace over it you can get away with a bit more.

MrsEH: clairebbbear: thank you! Those suggestions are really helpful 🙂 I was planning on getting yhe sleeves lifted a bit and that seem made less obvious but will have a play around and see if getting rod completely would lool better. I like the odea of making the sweetheart more pronounced

cpick: Dress looks wonderful on you. Very flattering OP. I agree with taking the bust in a little more and making sure it accentuates that curve. With some bridal a jewlery and a veil, I think you’ll start to see it as complete. Congrats!

cpick: the only thing ”off” is the sleeve length! Once you shorten the sleeves, It will look beautiful! IMO a cap sleeve or no sleeves would look best. I think it fits you nicely and I love the illusion neckline! (I have one on my dress too!)

The top half of the dress needs tightening so you get that hour glass shape. The dress can then get pulled in much better. I think the skirt is fine but for me I see the sleeves as an issue. It makes the dress look quite heavy on top. I personally would remove the sleeves just past the seams so you don’t get that harsh line where the sleeve meets the top of the dress. I feel your arms need freeing, don’t know why. But other than that, beautiful dress.

Thank you all for your suggestions! I’m definitely going to get something done with the sleeves to balance it out more
