Hoy! 🙂

I don’t really wear makeup either. In fact, I’m nearing 30 and I’m still trying to figure out how to properly apply eyeliner and blend eyeshadows so I don’t end up looking like a drag queen!

I’m only half, but my skin is a little on the darker side. I went for a smokey eye, but with a more natural look as opposed to a night out with the girls.

Kaibigan ko! I am 32 and have never learned to put on any kind of makeup consistently aside from lipstick. My Maid/Matron of Honor will be doing my makeup for me on the day of. I have already bought a smoky eye kit with black, cream, and silver in it with a diagram right on the bottom instructing which color goes where. It’s like paint by numbers, ha. Since my colors are ivory and pewter, I figured it was worth trying out. However, I won’t be putting it on clubbing style, just enough to get the idea and *hopefully* be alluring.

Instead of bold colors, have you just tried for deeper shades? I don’t know what shades you are looking for, if any specific, but in the past I’ve just gotten dark brownish eyeshadow with a hint of shine to make my eyes pop out a bit more. Good luck! I’ll definitely be keeping an eye on this thread; thanks for bringing it up!

@fzesguer:  Hi there! Not sure if you have already had your wedding but if you are still looking for advice on makeup I would suggest you have a trial at a MAC store or counter. I am full filipina but often get mistaken for mastiza for my features ( big eyes and i have a more angular nose than my mother ) though I too am on the more tan side- freckles also! MAC works so well because they have a lot of yellow based foundations available- perfect for asian tones.

I use colour NC 40 in the Studio Fix foundation and powder- you can build the coverage really well using a beauty blender. Trust me, go in and see them- they will match you up and recommend suitable colours for shadow, blush and lipstick for your wedding day. I personally will be going quite smokey and dramatic in the eye, but I’m used to wearing makeup every day and look quite scary without any on lol… and I’m also a trained makeup artist (in my younger years I did a lot of bridal makeup) so it will look odd to my girlfriends if I didn’t have something a little more special than normal 🙂

@fzesguer:  I had a hard time finding makeup inspiration, too! All the Asian makeup pegs I could find were for fairer South East Asian women, which was very frustrating.

For inspiration, I searched for makeup looks from women like Rosario Dawson and Zoe Saldana, who are dark-skinned but sort of Pinay-looking as well. Vanessa Hudgens is half-Filipino, so I looked at her makeup looks as well.

Some examples…

At my makeup trial, I showed my makeup artist these images and she created a lovely look for me. Just a tip: go with makeup artists whose work you’ve seen before and loved, either at a wedding or somewhere else. My makeup artist did the makeup for one of my bridesmaids at her wedding, and it really helped since she already had experience working with a similar skin type and complexion. My trial photo is below 🙂

Anyway, hope that helps!

@princessggg:  Hey! Just noticed you were from Australia, like me 🙂 Have you found a makeup artist yet? I could recommend one if you live in Sydney!

@perfectingfaith:  Hey! yes I know i tried googling/searching for pinay wedding make up but kept getting fairer skinned girls and i’m pretty tanned so your suggestions look perfect!! oh and your make up trial looks beautiful! so perfect <3 Will you be going with Airbrush or traditional? What Mac colour are you? (=(=

i’m from Brisbane actually )= I would’ve loved a rec, cos im actually going with a company (Gloss Bar) who I met at a Bridal expo, and Im kind of worried maybe they havent worked with like darker skin before – which is why I’d love a fil-experienced MUA. Thank you anyway <3 Sydney has so many pretty places, just a wedding of a girl i know had her reception at Grand Royale this past weekend OMG so beautiful.

@fzesguer:  Yay for Nov 30th!!! It’s a very auspicious date in the calender- much luck to you and me!

No worries at all, I hope you get some good results at MAC- you will be über happy I’m sure! I like quite neutral colours but usually have a smokey eye, bronze blush and nude lip. I’ll post pics when I have my trial. Being an old MUA myself I can be a little picky but luckily for me my MUA does a lot of magazine and television work here in Australia, and has her own line of makeup made for her under her name- so I’m confident she will bring the goods 🙂

My plans are going well! Pretty laid back with things, but I have the important things sorted- dress, MU and hair, photographer, entertainment, venues and decorator, celebrant, florist and cake. Weekender beach house to get ready and party aftterward still working on. Cars and suits are in HTB court. I’m just trying to finalise our Save the Date cards which will be in laser cut or WordPress- either way soooo expensive! Oh, and get my 1 yr old daughters dress made- she is going to look so adorable! (Biased mummy here lol…)

How are your plans?

Hey ladies- if you are still looking for some inspiration check out Instagram. There is an amazing MUA on there and she is a filo girl pala_foxxia. She is just beautiful, knows her stuff AND does amazing work. You can get plenty of inspiration from her every day looks and also dramatic eyes and lips. I tend to purchase a lot of the MAC items she uses because it suits our skin tone- she also has eyeball tutorials too so you can recreate the looks!

I’m a fair skinned Filipina so I’m looking to the glamorous Dita Von Teese and the Evil Queen from Once Upon a Time for my make-up inspirations. I will be going for well-groomed eyebrows, long dark lashes, smoky eye make-up, pink cheeks, porcelain skin and very red lips.
