Mine get super bad like that and the only thing that helps is ice.  It takes down the swelling in whatever is pinching that nerve.  Anti-inflammatories never work for me, usually I just stick with the ice.  Hope you feel better 🙁

I’ve had my share of pinched nerves and unfortunately, I’ve yet to find some miracle cure. I normally just pop some extra strength aspirin and wait it out.

ETA: TKS, I’ve tried ice but I’m too much of a wuss to keep it on my neck for long enough. Something about freezing cold against my neck is like horrifying, lol. I totally have a complex.

Try getting a massage from someone licensed/registered. Or see a chiropractor, or maybe both if its that bad. Just be warned you might have to see one or both a couple times before it starts feeling better. Try heat on your neck too to loosen the muscles after 2 days, until then keep using ice. You can also try some anti-inflammatories like tylenol or aleve (which also has naproxen, a muscle relaxant in it) and just try to stay relaxed, or as relaxed as possible.

(I’m a registered massage therapist BTW)

I’ve gotten two pinched nerves in my elbow before, and I can sympathsize with how painful it is! It hurt so bad I felt like throwing up. What helped me was a lot of Advil and some hot soaks. I’m not sure why the hot soak helped, but it made me feel better. I really just had to wait it out with some Advil though 🙁 I hope it goes away soon!

@UpstateCait: LOL, it used to freak me out and couldn’t keep it on long enough, but now, I could almost give myself frostbite and keep it there.  Must be a sign of aging.
