Pink moissy’s gorgeous!  The sparkle and durability outdo most other gemstones.  Pink moissy is regular white moissy with a pink coating. The coating can become damaged if the stone is subjected to high heat.  I was set on blue moissy until I found out about the coating, so I like to mention it in case that matters to anyone.

If you don’t want to worry about a coating, pink sapphire would be the next best thing, something like this:

Moissaniteco offers rose pink and Shuachs offeres peachy pink.  If you have your heart set on moissy, though, go for it!  And please post when you get pictures.  🙂

@abirdword:  I was just coming here to post this!  I drool over the colored moissanite, but it is definitely just a coating and I have seen at least one case where the ring was worked on and the coating came off.

I think pink moissy is gorgeous, but it’s important to know about the treatment that makes it the pink color and any issues that could cause with work you might need done to the ring in the future.

If you really like pink tourmaline but were put off by high estimates on price, I would look at stones online. 5,500 seems kind of high for an estimate on a pink tourmaline ring unless you want a ton of metal and diamonds in the setting, IMO. I’m not sure what kind of ring you were looking at but just stonewise, you should definitely be able to find a pink tourmaline at a lower or comparable cost to pink moissy.

On ACStones.com, there is a round pink tourmaline cut by Barry which is 7.8mm and supposedly flawless at 10x for only $198. The item # is T-7525, and that’s just one example. I would go to the colore stone section of the PriceScope forums, they have a recommended vendors sticky thread. I would check those sites out and even get an estimate from a cutter who can custom cut you a stone from a selection of rough.

That does seem like an awfully high estimate.  There are many other pink stones around, like others have pp have mentioned. It can range from created created stones, such as moissanite (all the pictures are very pretty!), or naturally mined tones such as pink sapphires, or a morganite (don’t think morganites been mentioned yet) to name a few.  I know there’s a bee on here with a stunning morganite ring, if I find it I’ll be sure to post.  Best of wishes!

Miss terrior also has a pink sapphire, although hers is darker than the shade you would like.  I found it interesting she said that Elle Woods has one in the second legally blonde, I might have to dig out that movie just to spot it.

I know there are loads of other bees on here with pretty pink rings, but these are just the ones I found quickly for you.  I had more examples and smaller resized photos, but my computer kept being silly and messing up right before I posted, hence the large photos and many posts with not a lot of examples.  Best wishes and keep us updated (=

Don’t be too scared of the coating for peachy pink or the rose pink moissy.  Coated stones in general are not a new thing.  You just need to work with a jeweler that is fammilair with them,  And yes, tell them not to use heat; there are a lot of stones that can’t take high heat…diamonds are one of them.  🙂  The only case I know of where there was an issue with the coating, the jeweler was not informed and therefore, mistreated the stone.  My peachy pink has already been posted, but it is my favourite colour ever!!
