We’re getting married in Savannah this fall in a garden. I am going for a very romantic look. It’s only the two of us, but I want to look as incredible and beautiful as possible. I don’t want anything about what I’m wearing to look cheep or cheezy.
I am going to make a wrap/shawl to wear for my wedding. I found some beautiful lace at the fabric store, but it looked a bit dingey to me, so I didn’t get it. I’ve found some gorgeous ivory lace on ebay that would go fantastic with my dress, but it’s a bit more than I want to pay.
So, I got this crazy idea to make a pink lace wrap to match my pink shoes.
This is my dress:
These are my shoes:
And this is what I’m wearing in my hair:
Do you think a pink wrap would be too much, or should I go for the ivory lace that I know would look fantastic?

Personally, I’m not one for getting too mitchy-matchy with accessories (I know I said it was okay to wear purple-on-purple shoes and crinoline to someone else, but that was for a funk element, I think), so I would go with ivory lace before pink. Pink in this case pushes the ensemble a little too close to sweet sixteen for my comfort.
Are you planning on wearing the shawl throughout the ceremony, or is it just an accessory for travel, the reception or if it gets cold?

Go with ivory–you don’t want to overdo the pink (which is gorgeous, btw).

definitley not pink, it’s too matchy matchy. And honestly, i wouldn’t go for lace either, no matter what color. that dress already is very lacy and busy, and with the flowers in your hair (which look beautiful btw) i think a lace wrap will take it from “pretty and romantic” to “dawdy and old-fashioned” like something out of your grandmother’s house, you know? what about an adorable cashmere cardigan?? in soft ivory, in a shrunken silhouette so it’s very feminine and pretty. Have you seen this idea done before? I’ve seen it on SMP and other blogs, what do you think??

Thank you everyone!
@JennyW1: I was afraid it was pushing it a bit too much towards sweet sixteen. I’m planning on having it with me all the time, possibly wearing it during the ceremony. We’re getting married outdoors, and I don’t know what the weather will be like, so I might need something to wrap in.
@Statutory Grape: Thanks! I love the pink color too, but I do think it would be better to go with the ivory.
@Kemi82Justice of the Peace: I think I’ve pretty much decided not to go with the pink. But I don’t think I want to go with a cardigan. I do think they are very pretty, and I love to wear them with dresses, but to me, they just look a liitle too casual to wear with a wedding dress.

Where did you get your shoes from if you mind me asking?

I would go ivory , but not lace, you have enough lace already, plus it wil be hard to match exactly as you have found . Something like a feather light angora might be nice, or faux fur or faux marabout -or chiffon if you only want it to be very light.

Stephanie Fishwick : I found them online, but I don’t remember what site and that was 7 years ago, so I’m almost certain they aren’t available any longer. I’m sorry I couldn’t be more help.

elderbee : Thanks. My wedding was almost 7 years ago, and I found some beautiful lace that matched my dress perfectly. I finished the raw ends with a lace border that had pearls, beads and sequins for a bit of sparkle. If you look at the pictured, down by my hand holding my shoes, you can see the detail of the lace shawl. I loved the look of it.
