Well, mine’s not an engagement ring but I absolutely love it! My boyfriend got it for me for my birthday and I actually tried to convince him to use it as one, but he’s set on getting a diamond (or a moissanite, which I also love!!)

I’m a diamond owner, but I’m lusting over the new pink moissanites at Moissaniteco.com. I’ve heard great things form other bees about the site, and want them to make some pink diamond stud earrings for me, if only I had the budget right now 😉

Sapphires were actually the original stone traditionally used in engagement rings and are still quite popular, despite De Beers. My mom had one, Kate Middleton has one, and I say that if you want one, go for it!

I have a coloured gemstone ring and it’s more unique and beautiful to me than any diamond ring would have been. Choose what reflects your personality and wear it proudly!

My ering is a pink sapphire. I wouldn’t have wanted any other color.

Thanks guys! It’s a Laurie Sarah design, you can find her shop on Etsy, though I believe she has an independent site, maybe on ArtFire?

I can’t wait to receive it and post hand-shots, at the moment I’m having a wedding band made to go with it and am actually considering making a stacked set to conture the ring. Choices choices… The band will be pink sapphire as well. Too much of a good thing can be wonderful 🙂

I had a sapphire ring (smaller and blue) before and a random couple of people asked if it was because I couldn’t “afford” a diamond. I just like having something different that you can’t find every day. This ring is perfect for me.

@Jen4414: I worked with her before where I basically just bought one of her pieces ready-made, and that was great. I was thrilled with her work and knew I wanted to work with her again. She’s designing the band to go with the ring.

This time commissioning work was trickier because I knew I liked this double halo style, but I had a very specific color in mind for the center stone. She emailed me a few pics of stones she had sourced for me, but I was really unsure about the cut and color of them. She called me directly from California (I live on the east coast) and discussed my options with me and within like 10 days I had pics of the finished ring. She then told me “If this is the ring we’ll start making the band for it, if not just let me know and I’ll keep searching for the perfect sapphire.” I was amazed that she actually was that committed to letting me proof the final piece instead of just guessing what it would look like.

No regrets whatsoever working with her, I was really picky and she really went above and beyond to deliver.

@Koala Bear: Thank you!!

@Jen4414: Thank you!! I wish I could tell you but he never told me where he got it. And I’ve never seen pink moissy in person, but I’ve seen the pics and it’s absolutely gorgeous!! You have to post pics if you end up getting one 🙂
