So… I have known this was coming for a while now. We talked way back at the start of the year that we would be engaged by the new year. A few months ago in the summer we went ring shpoping, and he knew the one that I loved. Then I knew that it got ordered in October because he confirmed the metal I wanted, and surprise – ordered it on our joint visa. We get more aeroplan points that way!
I have been pretty patiently waiting since all of that went down in the fall. I was away for work and got home on the 21st, waiting for Christmas Eve because that is when we were planning on doing our stockings, at home alone after a family dinner. He had been hinting that there was one more present to put in there that he hadn’t wrapped yet. So guess what I was thinking! But it wasn’t there.
Next morning, we went to my parents house for breakfast and presents. I knew there was no way he would do it in front of everyone, and I wouldn’t want that either. So when we went back to our house in the afternoon to put the turkey in, I was like WTF man! I figured I was wrong and he would do it on New Years, since he kept talking about fireworks. I was disappointed because I had myself pretty damn convinced it would be Christmas.
Los… After dinner he knew I had been feeling a bit unhappy since the afternoon, but we just cuddled up and watched a couple episodes of our new favorite TV show Homeland, and then got ready for bed. I finished brushing my teeth first so I went to go start another episode and he came into the room with the ring in his pj pant pockets and actually got down on one knee after saying he wanted to be with me forever.
Wow that was kind of long for such a simple at-home proposal! But here are some pics…
