I was on the Knot and Bee before I was engaged, and it is a VERY good thing I hadn’t found pinterest yet. Just from those two sites I had my wedding planned 4 times over before we were engaged. Of course then nothing I had for ideas from before ended up in my wedding but cupcake centerpieces…

I think it helped having SOME idea what was out there, my sister planned her wedding having never thought about it at all and had to do it in 6 months because of jobs and moving and it would have been much easier if she had SOME clue about what she wanted. But I think all the planning I did before we were engaged also made it feel like forever!

I do the same thing now with pinterest and kid stuff. We have zero plan to have kids in the next 3 year for sure. Most likely 5 years before we start trying but that doesn’t mean I don’t have all my theoretical children’s nursery and wardrobes planned! I think there is nothing wrong with getting ideas as long as it doesn’t consume you and make you miserable.

Oh yeah, I pin all the time.  And I show my SO wedding stuff and get his opinion on it.  I also pin engagement rings I like so I can make sure to try them on when we go ring shopping in the future.  I make him comment on those, too.

I am weird about Pinterest.. I feel funny pinning wedding things before I’m engaged, so I don’t. But I can’t just let all those cute ideas pass me by, so I have a folder on my computer I save everything to. It’s sad. And yes, even then, I feel guilty for having so much wedding stuff before I’m engaged.

I’ll show my SO the VERY occasional thing I’ve found off Pinterest, but most of the time, they stay hidden in my folder. I seriously wish I hadn’t found Pinterest till after I was engaged..

On the Bee, people get what it was like to be a waiting Bee, so they understand why we’re already planning…

On Pinterest, it’s mostly my Facebook friends, and they’d think I’m crazy for planning when I’m not engaged yet. So I’m holding off til then. 🙂

@Sapphire-Dreamer:  Hahaha too funny! My kindle is filled with books about weddings or brides (ie. The Wedding Dress, Shopaholic Ties the Knot, etc). So it’s definitely a source of embarassment for me, were SO ever to look through it. Pinterest bulimia desribes me perfectly! My parents certainly don’t help with my guilt- my mom is always buying me wedding maagzines and my dad has planned our honeymoon. I’m like, sheesh! No ring yet people! (But at the same time they make me really excited-hee!)

@Sapphire-Dreamer:  My SO and I share mutual friends and i would be so embarassed if they saw the things i post and pin.

Same! Too bad I can’t just keep my profile public add a private board. I’d be all over that.

I started by pinning all the rings from my old secret Engagement Ring folder. Then people started following it! And I was like, Oh well, guess I ought to keep pinning rings! I’ve now got a pin board of 300+ rings I’ve liked, thought were unique, wanted as right hand ring, incorporated some element I’d never seen before, etc. I think I have a problem!

I voted no pinning until the ring, but…  I liked a friend’s wedding reception pin, well guess what shows up in my FB feed?  “miss pudding pop liked WEDDING IDEAS!” I had three friends “like” my “like”, lol…  I hid it from my feed. 🙂

When I first considered myself “waiting” I pinned on my wedding board all the time. But all of a sudden pinterest got really popular and like a bagillion of my friends got engaged. Sooo… to prevent my beloved wedding ideas from getting “stolen”, I saved all my favorite ideas to a folder on my desktop and deleted them from pinterest. 0=) A little bit overcautious, but I really want my wedding to be original! Even if I am the last of my friends to get married =P
