Since christmas is is just around the corner, I just wanted to take this chance to let you all know of a wonderful rescue that I volunteer with. Pipsqueak Paddocks is a non-profit Miniature Horse Rescue/Haven, they rehabilitate and rehome abused, neglected or unwanted Miniature Horses in British Columbia. This started out as a mother daughter team when they rescued their first mini and in the past two years they have had over 90 mini’s pass through their gates and currently have 16 in their care over the winter holidays.
These mini’s come from auction, from SPCA surrenders, and from those who are no longer able to keep their animals. Each mini that comes through their gate requires vet work (including gelding, worming, delouceing, shots, teeth floating, and wound care ), farrier work for overgrown hooves and tons of hay to fill their tummies. Pipsqueak does an amazing job for bringing these horses back to health and finding loving homes for them, some have even gone on to compete in driving competitions.
This week they had two mini’s come with severe injuries, one unfortunately had to be put down but the other is on the road to recovery but will require on going vet care for the next few months. I am really hoping to help get them a few donations to help cover the cost of her vet care, so if anyone is interested in donating their information is on their website.
To learn more about them you can visit their website at http://www.pipsqueakpaddocks.com/available.cfm. Their website is updated all the time, and has a wonderful blog there you can follow along with whats going on, there are tons of photos and videos too.
While this rescue is not local to most of you, please take a few minutes to check them out and spread the word about this wonderful animal rescue, and please don’t forget about the animals this christmas season.
