I live about 30 minutes outside of Pittsburgh (LET’S GO PENS!) Ok, now that that’s out of my system…

We decided on a 16-month engagement, and this Friday will mark the official year countdown! I allowed myself to be mellow the first four months, just enjoying being able to say "fiance." The only thing we did was book the reception hall/ceremony site at the end of January.

Now that it’s a year away, I’m in full planning mode. I already have my DJ, and photographer lined up. The next step is trying to get everyone to agree on a guest list as we search for invitations, cakes and other decor. Dress shopping will take place this September.

The whole wedding will take place at a local country club. Our ceremony will start at 3 p.m. and will be held outside (weather permitting) in this beautiful area that overlooks the river and is encompassed with trees and greenery. Not too much decorating will be done for the ceremony site; I want the outside to speak for itself. Receiving line will directly follow the ‘I dos. ‘

After the ceremony, there’ll be a cocktail hour while we take pictures. The reception will start at 5 p.m. with the bridal party introduction (we have 6 attendants on each side).

That’s as far as I’ve gotten though. Don’t know when all the traditional dances will take place. The cake cutting will be done after dinner. We’ll party the night away at the reception. We reserved three rooms to have an "after party" at the country club just for the bridal party. It’s going to be a fun night! Then we’ll leave for our honeymoon (TBA) on Sunday afternoon.

Yay!

Our big day is May 02, ’09 so the year countdown has begun! We’re both originally from Eastern Ohio but I’m a grad student at Pitt and he works in Tarentum so we’re doing a "Greater Pittsburgh" area wedding.

I have a photog, DJ, reception site booked and lots of ideas for everything else. My dad is a racehorse trainer at Mountaineer and a polo player in Darlington, PA  and we’re getting married on Kentucky Derby day so that’s our very loose "theme". (Think: mint lemonade – can’t do bourbon that early in the day!- and big hats for the bridal party after the ceremony).

We plan to get married outside at the SNPJ (www.alpineroom.com) It’s a Slovenian Heritage Center. We’re not Slovenian but only in Western PA can you find these type of places, right?  The ceremony will be around 5:30 so we can all watch the Kentucky Derby projected on the wall at 6:15! The reception will start right after.

Having two big families who all live locally leads, expectedly, to a guest list of 350! Yikes!  So, no receiving line. We hope to gobble down our food while everyone else is in the cocktail hour and then greet each table individually.

Here’s our wedding website so far; I’m looking for some feedback or to spice it up a little…

So our situation has been a little tricky. We live in Los Angeles but are marrying in Pittsburgh…yes, we’re having a "destination wedding" to Pittsburgh! Actually, the majority of our family is in PA and OH and other random east/midwest locations so it was easier for us to come back that direction rather than make everyone come to us.

The big day is soon (yikes!), on June 21. We saved a lot of stress by booking at a reception site – Sheraton Station Square – that was almost all-inclusive (includes food, cake, alcohol, rentals, etc) so we didn’t have to book seperate vendors for everything from 3,000 miles away. At this point, all vendors/services are set.

One question, though – I want to get manis/pedis done w/the mom’s on Thursday before and would love some recommendations for a local nail salon.

Hope everyone is enjoying their week so far!

Ooh, good idea Ms Pineapple! (and, oddly enough, my married last name will be "Fruit"!)

We are getting married June 21st as well.  Although the reception isn’t at the Sheraton, we have rooms blocked there for that night and me and my huney are staying there that night.

Our rehearsal dinner is at the Grand Concourse in Station Square and we will be heading to Bar Louie for drinks afterward.

The next day the Bridesmaids and I +my mom are getting our hair and makeup done at La Pomponee in Mt. Lebanon.  Then we will head to St. Bernards in Mt. Lebanon for the ceremony.

After the ceremony we are taking photos at the steps of the carnegie museum and then heading to Pittsburgh Golf Club.

I have 9 bridesmaids and 8 groomsmen. Our colors are golden green (think pretty green leaf… right before fall comes) and deep purple colored flowers.

Our photographer is Araujo. Our florist is Blooming Daliah.

That building is so pretty; I always think that when I ride by on the bus. 🙂

Yes, it is the one in Schenley.  It is absolutely beautiful.  If anyone is looking for something quiant and adorable consider Pittsburgh Golf Club.  It is like a little southern plantation in the middle of pittsburgh.  If anyone knows of the Greenbrier in West Virginia, it looks like that.

Obviously, I think it is goregous!!

We are getting married Aug. 2nd in the North Hills. I think all the big stuff is booked, but now I’m nervous about the details! I am from Pittsburgh and so is most of my family. His family is from Illinois and we live in Indiana but are moving to Memphis, TN in a few weeks! I know, a lot to do before the wedding. We are going to put off buying a house until after the wedding so we can save for a downpayments instead of saving for the wedding!

We are having the Rehearsal dinner at Atria’s in Gibsonia, right near my mom’s house and our church and reception local. The ceremony will be at 3:30 pm at Hampton Presbyterian Church, where my parents got married and I went to church during my childhood. The reception is 3 miles away at the Hampton Community Center. I wanted a "black slate" as a reception location so we could choose everything we wanted!

We are having Wexford Post Office do the catering. We just had the tasting and I’m sooo excited. We are doing 5 different stations around the room. Prime rib carving station with veggies (grilled on site), salad bar, mashed potato bar (served in martini glasses!),  cheese and fruit display and Pittsburgh station (with all our favorite Pittsburgh food!).

We just booked our photographer a couple weeks ago and went with Lost in this Moment. Their website looks fabulous, so I’m very excited to see what they can do! http://www.lostinthismoment.com

Sorry this is long, but I’m getting excited to finally have everything together!

Here’s my dress:

Bridesmaids dresses:

My maid of honor is on the left. I have 4 bridesmaids, 2 have v-neck dresses and 2 have the halter shown. The bridesmaids have a navy sash, but my mom didn’t want to take it off the hanger to try on!

That’s enough for one post. Post some pictures if you have them, I would love to see what everyone elses stuff looks like!

We are getting married May 23, 09 at Wallace Memorial Presbyterian church in Greentree.  Our reception will be at the Circuit Center in the South Side.  THe catering there is through the Fluted Mushroom located downtown.  We chose 3 colors for our wedding; cornflower blue, chocolate brown and like a celery/sage green.

We have booked Lost in this Moment (just like cynderele) for all my photography/videography/DJ/event planning/aisle runner needs.  One stop shopping for vendors for this girlie!

Our guest count is approaching 200 but my goal is around 175.  I hired a wedding planner which was the best choice EVER!  I can DIY anything I want but she does all the crappy work I don’t have time for.  Plus she has such a creative side to her that works well.  I’m originally from NE Ohio so it is hard to coordinate things with my mom to help me out.

I have lots of ideas but nothing set in stone.  I’m thinking vintage glam as my theme with tall centerpieces with branches and a photobooth of course.

My Maid and Matron of honor live out of state (and one will be in Africa starting this fall) so dresses will be tricky. more to come!

Cynderele — my FI’s sister had her rehearsal dinner at Atria’s in Gibsonia and both the food and service were great! Have fun!!
