Or, how early do you plan on getting it?
I met with my officiant the other day and he asked if we had it yet, and I was like seriously? There’s over 3 months until the wedding…
So how early did you get, or do you plan on getting, your marriage license?

@MandaMack: I think we’ll go get ours about a month before our wedding (Oct. 15), so go by Sept. 15. I think I read that they are valid for 60 days and should only take a week to receive…although I’m just going by what I read. Just make sure that when you go you have everything with you:
Here is where I found the info for Allegheny County marriage licenses, which you may have already read. Three months would make the license invalid, so not sure what the officiant is talking about 🙂

I think we went about a month ahead of time, and we received the license about 4 or 5 days later. And there was no wait whatsoever, which amazed me. We just walked up to the counter, told the clerk that we were not already married and had no contagious diseases, forked over some money, and that was it.

We got ours about a month ahead of time, at the Allegheny County courthouse. It was mailed to my Future Mother-In-Law the following Monday so it only took a day or two to receive. The fee was $75. In PA you do not have to get a license from the county you are getting married in, any PA license is valid anywhere else in the state and the fee varies from place to place.
