Hi to all first post to wedding bee I have been browsing for a while but finally engaged 1-31! Trying to figure out to do wedding in pittsburgh ceremony/reception same place or to do destination and party in pittsburgh. We are saving for our family home and really would like a budget of $10,000. I love outdoor/barn wedding but the barns are simply outrageous. We looked at Succop conservancy and it was beautiful no openings til spring 2014. We were hoping for fall 2013. We live 15 miles north of pittsburgh in Natrona Heights and would like to keep it close if possible. Any Suggestions appreciated especially on budget suggestions. Thanks to all in advance!

Lingrow was tiny when I was planning my first wedding, but it looks like they’ve really expanded. That being said, they were wonderfully nice and friendly.

@ilerat131: Congrats on your engagement! I’m originally from Lower Burrell, so I’m pretty familiar with that area! That being said, I was married in State College, so I don’t have firsthand wedding experience with these places…but what about:
Springwood Conference Center
Wooden Door Winery
- Sometimes you can get a really good deal using a park as a venue – just keep in mind the catering and tenting (and possibly alcohol permit) costs
- I’m not sure if they host weddings, but I know some have held their bridal showers here
There are more that are farther away (Laurel Highlands, etc.) – check out this site for more info.
If all else fails, you can still bring the outdoors in. You could use barn and outdoor elements inside to style your space and maintain your theme.

It’s gonna be real hard to have a fall wedding at this point. Stuff books real far out especially the less expensive stuff. I would wait until next fall of 2014 or at least next spring just because of the budget.
