We’re doing gourmet chicago style pizza from one of the local places here. Seriously their pizza is like…the most amazing thing you ever put in your mouth. It’s like crazy thick and piled high with some of the greatest toppings and cheeses.  My fave is the artichoke hearts, clamata olives and feta cheese with the beautiful spiced evoo sauce.

So yeah, pizza is awesome =)

I saw it done on a wedding tv show before and everyone was commenting on how great it was! I think its a great idea, but pizza is my favorite food and Im not into the whole ‘wedding’ food traditional thing…

I think it depends on what venue you have it at.  I’ve seen backyard barbeque weddings on Four Weddings, and people loved it.  However, if you had it at a place like the Taj Mahal, then people would probably freak.

I think it’s a good idea if it’s good pizza…not something awful like Dominos.

It all depends on how it’s done, but also take into consideration your guests. If your friends and family would think it’s awesome then go for it! I personally probably wouldn’t do it but if it was done in the right way it would be fine!

I am personally a fan of Dominos (peachacid: I mean, how can you not love that crust?!?!) but I assume you mean good, not fast food kind of pizza, and with bread and salads and stuff it would be great!

I’d be psyched about it, as long as the pizza was on the nicer side (more upscale Italian-restaurant and less Dominoes).

Pizza really is a casual food. Even gourmet pizza. If you’d be upset with a guest who wore jeans then pizza might not be the best menu for you. If it’s a jeans-level dress code though, pizza would be fine as long as it’s properly prepared and served before it gets cold or soggy.

I think it sounds awesome. And the best weddings are the ones at which the people getting married and the people there to celebrate it are all having fun – the rest takes care of itself. Have pizza, and have a wonderful time.

One of the Bees on the other thread made a good observation about the practical, logistical difficulties of serving pizza in a buffet line and making it look halfway elegant (i.e. not just stacks of cardboard boxes) and still stay fresh & hot. It could be a fun, clever thing to do, but you’ll want to think carefully about it.
