For  a destination wedding I would stick to something simple. You can prepare the escort cards at home then set up a simple display .

This example is obviously for a beach wedding but instead of the shells you could use a small pinecone for a rural wedding etc. You could take the background fabric with you.

Are you saying you are going to have your guests find their own tables? So they have to look at every place card on every table to find their seat?

If there is any anymosity to deal with, I would do escort cards so the people involved aren’t bumping into each other many times while they try to find their table.

If you only want place cards, you can use any standard tented placecard or take placecard holders with you.

or use a favor as the placecard.

You can use the same idea of adding a bit of decor to the corner of the card.

What type of destination wedding are you having?

I think a seating plan or an alphabetical arrangement of escort cards is what you are looking for. The guest finds their name and beside their name ( whether on a seating chart or on the escort card) is their table assignment. You can use numbers or names for your tables.

If you decide on escort cards there are many things that can be used
