We are inviting children of any age to the wedding. At what age do the children get their own seat? Do you have any suggestions of how to write the names as well? Our wedding is very informal so I don’t want the MR. MRS business. Could I just write like “Johnson family” if they have children? Right now I have place cards on my computer as their individual names and even the children names.

We will have 50 children under the age of 12 at our 150 person wedding. My plan is to write “family” assignments to tables. So “Smith Family, Table 1” or “John and Jane Doe, Table 2.”
IMO, every child should be given a seat if you have space for it. Even parents of infants need somewhere to place the infant carrier. At age 1.5 my children sat at a table to eat a meal.

All of our kids, even the babies, will get a place card. It makes it easier for me.

The child needs a seat unless he can be held in the parent’s arms. To stick to formality, you use “Master” and “Miss” for the kids under 18.
