I had to take my ring to be repaired and it felt so weird to not have anything on my finger. I bought a cheap band while at the store just to make my fingers feel better. Did any of you buy placeholder rings while your ering was in the shop? What did it look like?
Here’s mine. I picked one that wouldn’t be confused for my actual ering or wedding band.

I had a placeholder fo most of my engagement! It was an heirloom piece that belong to my great aunt.

Pretty! Anytime something like that happens (resizing, ect.) I wear my anniversary band my husband got me on our 1st wedding anniversary.
Its blue & white sapphires.

I have stacking bands – a couple tree bark bands and some 1mm bands in yellow and rose gold that altogether are 11mm in width – that I wear in these situations or when I do not wear my wedding rings for other reasons. I actually really like wearing them as they are so easygoing (no stones, etc) that I do not need to worry about them getting damaged, etc. I usually wear them on my left ring finger when I do have my wedding bands on.
I have had them on for the last month or so waiting for my new rings!
They sort of actually inspired my new set as I love the wider stacked look.

@OohShiny: That’s really pretty!
I have my old promise ring I would probably wear, but I have had no reason to not wear my ring for a few days yet.

I had two placeholders because it took a while for him to get me a ring, the first was my grandmother’s amethyst, and the 2nd was my grandmother’s pearl ring that another family member had “borrowed” over a decade ago. I used the pearl ring for my wedding ceremony until I could get the real one.

Just in case anyone is wondering, my placeholder is most certainly from Target. With the wedding only 30 days away, I just couldn’t bring myself to spend money on a real ring and any sentimental pieces I have are at my parents’ home in storage. It’ll probably fall apart but I only need it for a few days.

I definitely have a placeholder ring. I love it! I love wearing something while my wedding set is at the jeweler’s for maintenance. It is a ring that came with a jewelery set that I will wear at my wedding. It was earrings, pendant and ring for a great price. They are white sapphires in silver. I’ll come back and post a picture later! It looks like an engagement ring.

@OohShiny: Very cute!
I HATE the feeling of not having a ring on (also, I always wear a right-hand ring, so the feeling goes for both hands haha), but I have a simple diamond band that I wear on my left hand while my other rings are in the shop (and then an assortment of right-hand rings for the other side).

@OohShiny: That’s really cool.
Part of my line of work has my wife and I traveling to less-than-perfectly-safe areas of the globe. During those times, my wife wears a placeholder ring – it was like a $10 jobber from Target. She does the same when either of her two rings is in getting cleaned or repaired.
If she doesn’t go with a placeholder ring while traveling, at the very least, she removes the ‘expensive’ engagement one and just wears the very understated (and not particularly high dollar value) band.
I must admit, after 5 years of wearing my own… when I’m not wearing it (working in the yard) it feels kind of odd too.
