I’ve been spotting for the past ten days. It has mostly been brown, but the past few days it has been more red than brown, and there seems to be an increased amount of bleeding. I had a regular appointment today, and the doctor did an ultrasound. Heartbeat looked good and baby was measuring 8w2d, which correlates with what the last ultrasound showed. He mentioned placenta previa because the placenta looked a little low, but he didn’t seem too concerned by the scan. He put me on pelvic rest and light duty at work. Has anyone else experienced bleeding and possible placenta previa in the first trimester?

I experienced a low lying placenta, but no bleeding. The placenta will likely move up as the uterus grows and won’t be an issue!

I haven’t, but FX it moves up as your uterus grows! Good heartbeat is a great sign!

As far as I know placenta are mostly laying low on first trimester. I know mind is at the bottom on my 13w ultrasound and already move up in 17w. I also have light spotting (like 1-2x/month) till 13w. If you have been spotting for ten days and they are increasing, your doctor should find some wound on your womb, did he not? But if your doctor not worry then I’m sure it’s fine ^^ Happy mommy happy baby!!!

Congratulations on your pregnancy!
I was diagnosed with a low lying placenta at the 20 week scan. By 36 weeks it had moved several centimetres up. You will likely have additional internal scans to check the placenta position if it is found it is still low lying at a later stage.
I also had two occasions of bleeding during my healthy pregnancy so I know how worrying this can be! Each occasion lasted approximately a week and I experienced red and brown bleeding and pink spotting (the pink was toward the beginning of the bleed). One scan detected what they thought was a Hematoma (bruise) which could have caused the bleed. As far as I’m aware these cannot always be very easily identified so maybe that could be the cause rather than the low lying placenta?
Hope the bleeding stops soon bee and you continue to have a healthy happy pregnancy
