What part of RI? I’m only familiar with Newport and Middletown, both are gorgeous and have so much to do.

If you end up in Newport here are some suggestions:

Touristy things: The Cliffwalk, Ocean Drive, Historic Preservation Society Mansion Tours, Trolley Tours, 1st 2nd or 3rd beach, Visit gonewport.com for more ideas

Restaraunts: 22 Bowen’s, Castle Hill, Nory’s, Brick Alley Pub, The Mooring, Bliss Cafe (great sandwiches)

Shops: On thames there are so many fun shops my favorites include Chace and Lulu, Frazzleberries and the Pink Pineapple

I traveled to Providence, RI for about a year, so although I never really lived there, I found some favorite spots:

  • My coworkers and I liked going to Federal Hill for dinner which is kind of a Providence version of Little Italy.  There are many Italian restaurants, and in the summer there was usually music going on outside.  My favorite dessert spot was called Pastiche.
  • Also, you should check if you will be there during WaterFire.  That is a really neat event that goes on throughout the summer.  They light bonfires on the river, and it makes everything seem so magical.
  • Finally, if you’re feeling outdoorsy, we loooooooved going to Colt State Park.  It’s a bit of a drive but is right on the water and was an amazing spot for jogging, picnics, and BBQs!

For Providence I completely agree with Linzella Pastiche is AMAZING! they have delicious desserts like a chocolate chip coconut cake and the best chocolate cake. Federal Hill has amazing restaraunts too and pretty decent prices, at least compared to the North End in Boston.
